From TVOS-features to sidecar to integrated wireless charging portLeft out what?

Is HomeKit with Thread just a software update away?Perhaps it is the "Apple TV" someone was asking for in the other thread?
Or it is the long awaited update to the 17" Powerbook?
Or they can make it into a wifi router if there is appropriate hardware in there? e.g. DisplayAirPort
Or a thread control for HomeKit - that is easy.
Who knows for sure though, maybe they will have additional plans or it is just economies of scale as the article suggests.
How did they skimp on the panel? It's a slightly brighter version of the one they sold in the 27" iMac.All this is crazy, Why it costs 1500 because they threw everything but the kitchen sink. Why not just make a good monitor and not a jack of all trade master of non monitor.
Paying for components, Over-engineered monitor and the one thing they skimp on is the panel.
Exactly. Added complexity always adds more potential problems.Neat! Now let's jailbreak it.
It makes you wonder, though, what kind of liability it will be in the future when it stops receiving updates. It could do fun things like store persistent malware so you get reinfected even after a clean install of macOS. Or probably something more sinister and interesting that somebody more clever than me could think up. I guess there could be malware specifically targeting the display aspect. Probably to loop Nyan Cat over your menu bar.
When have Apple ever added new features to a product after the fact? They want to sell new things to you repeatedly, not suddenly unlock new potential in an existing product. And sadly their imaginations are so stunted that they're incapable of coming up with ideas on how a display with a cpu + memory, and tethered to a Mac, could be used for interesting extra features that Apple could introduce to the display in the future.

So the Apple Studio display is communicating with the computer via ethernet over USB? Huh.
It likely doesn't have the full iOS installed. It's probably stripped down to the necessary components for running whatever it's running in this display. No UI needed, no apps...How can only 2gbs be used if it has the full iOS installed?

Can't wait for these displays to get attacked through the internet...I have absolutely no idea what this ethernet adapter does. all I know it's in the display, it has an IPV6 address and I can ping it.
It probably would be a lot more expensive. The Pro XDR starts at $5,250 (if you opt for the VESA mount).Instead of adding all that stuff they could have put the same XDR panel. make it a 27 inch XDR

They did add third party apps to the iPhone in 2008, a year after Steve Jobs insisted that “web apps” were all anyone needed. When have Apple ever added new features to a product after the fact? They want to sell new things to you repeatedly, not suddenly unlock new potential in an existing product.
That’s not 64GB of memory, as in RAM, but of storage, as in an actual SSD.Well, doesn't a processor need SOME MEMORY in order to functionally run its tasks?
So, an A13 processor probably needs 32-64gb of memory to carry out multiple functions.
By today's standards, isn't 64gb a small amount of memory?
Just sayin.
Im not doing your research. There are enough threads on MR alone. Why is it silly? Be specific.
As in, via AirPlay 2? What about latency? From what we learned so far, Apple missed some opportunity by not including WiFi/BT:
Think of this:
Sidecar: connecting the external display just by click and not by cable
I'll acknowledge this one partially. But the device already had that functionality from the first party. It's not like an entire new function was added (apps). It was just expanded to third-parties.They did add third party apps to the iPhone in 2008, a year after Steve Jobs insisted that “web apps” were all anyone needed.
