I'm wondering if the magnetic one designed for the Pro XDR display will work with the ASD. I'm assuming it will, but was curious if someone actually has it mounted. Also curious how far you can angle the camera down.

It should be fine, I have one of those on the LG Ultrafine 4K at my office, I secured it down with a very thin bit of double sided tape: completely invisible and secures it. At home I have the same webcam on my Pro Display XDR, and that is definitely magnetic and no assistance required to hold it in place.

I meant to say, feedback from others has been that while using the Studio Display mics for conference calls, that quality hasn't been great and its been sounding like I've been using the speaker function of something rather than headphones (which I guess I am). On the flip side, if I use my MBP 16" mics, they think they sound brilliant.

I wonder if this is because I'm a bit further away from the screen than I naturally am when I use my MBP.
I always use AirPods Pro for video conferencing.

I went back from 32” to 27”. I just didn’t like it. I lost a lot of working space on the monitor and also didn’t like the big bezels.

I have decided to go back to my AOC U32U1. Who knows, maybe someday, I will find a Pro Display XDR deal. First things first, I discovered a problem with my eye sight, even when I am not looking on a screen. I have Menieres, so let’s check it with a doctor.

The only way you can lose working space is if you are running resolution more than Default Retina which is 2560 x 1440. In my case that's the resolution I'm running with my LG 32UN880-B so going down to 27" I won't lose any working space, same working space I had with my iMac 5K running at Default Retina of 2560 x 1440.

Almost anybody have paid attention to the fact that the ASD bezels are equal in size all around the display and there is no Apple logo anywhere making it ideal for Portrait mode use. One of the things I hate the most about all 4K monitors is that the bottom bezel of the monitor is always thicker than the others and also they show up a logo or branding, which if you set the monitor in Portrait mode, the logo will look rotated like in my LG 32UN880-B:

It is so nice to watch this thread and see all your lovely setups.

I am a bit afraid I am expecting too much of it. Still have to wait until mid May until I'll receive mine...

if you check out Dell they have a 27 and a 32 4k monitor with slim bezels even on the bottom and they have no logo.

27 inch one here - https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-ultrasharp-27-4k-usb-c-hub-monitor-u2723qe/apd/210-bdpf

32 inch here - https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-ultrasharp-32-4k-usb-c-hub-monitor-u3223qe/apd/210-bdph

*edit just noticed there is a thread about these further down.

Nice speaker - LYD 7?

Did anyone try to connect a Apple Studio Display to a Thunderbolt 3 dock with another monitor or connected two Studio Displays to a Thunderbolt 4 dock? I am curious if anyone connect two Studio Displays to a Thunderbolt 4 dock and get the 5K resolution with a second monitor. I know that the Ultrafine 5k can't do it since it doesn't have DSC support.

Mine is still waiting to ship, which is out to late May, early June. I don't know if I need to upgrade to a Thunderbolt 4 dock.

I have a pair of ASDs on order as well and also have already a Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Dock but as far I know, all current Thunderbolt 4 Docks only support dual 4K displays or a single 5K/6K/8K display. I think only the Caldigit TS4 and Element Hub do support 2 x 6K @ 60Hz but the Caldigit TS4 and Element Hub are plaged with bugs. Best thing you can do is to do what I did: use the Thunderbolt 4 Dock for accessories only (SSD, Time Machine, USB hubs, etc) and plug the displays directly into the Mac Studio.

Go to Audio Midi Setup and "Create Multi Output Device"

It works with my pair of LG 32UN880-B so pretty sure it would work with a pair of Studio Displays. BTW, I also ordered a pair of Studio Displays with VESA mount adapter to replace my pair of 32UN880-B displays.
Just wanted to check back in on this and say that it worked! However the only remaining issue is that the volume is on 100% and the volume bar is greyed out so I am unable to lower it. Not sure there is a solution for this that you are aware of? Volume buttons on the keyboard are also inactive when set to multi audio output.

So my studio display is going back with a fault. The USB-C ports seem to be only working intermittently when charging peripherals. Tech support think it may be a problem with the thunderbolt cable as the ports work if I disconnect the display from my macbook....but they can’t issue a replacement cable on its own so they are picking the display up and shipping a new one out immediately

not sure if you want to hold off, mines just started doing the same thing so may be a software issue. I have an Apple Watch charger plugged in and a MagSafe charger plugged in. The MagSafe charger has stopped working half way through charging an iPhone. The only thing I have done is swapped thunderbolt cables between my laptop and my Mac.

Edit: unplugging the USB-C of the MagSafe charger and pluggin it in caused it to begin working again.

Anyone found an elegant kvm solution for studio display? I am looking at a few DP 1.4 kvm switches but I don't know if the webcam and speaker will continue to work if I get one of those thunderbolt -> dp + usb cables.

Yeah that doesn’t sound too dissimilar to my issues. The strange thing is that I can charge my iPad from the studio display and my AirPods Pro and my AirPods Max but not a solo MagSafe charger. The MagSafe Duo Charger works perfectly. Tech support have sent the case to engineering anyway but they have no record of anyone else reporting these issues

Has anyone experienced an issue where the image from the built in webcam on the Studio Display flickers and breaks up when using the display with a Windows PC? The image never totally disappears, but I get frames dropping, sometimes with green / black / white interference. The camera works perfectly with a Mac so I don't think it is hardware related.
