If you look at the marginal price increase of the current generation MBPs and recent 4K miniLED monitors, you might be surprised! I’m guessing it will launch at $2K or less.
This is discounting the fact that no mini led 5k 27” 120hz monitor has ever existed, there have been plenty of 120hz mini led laptop panels. I’m not sure exactly what the cause is but making these panels at this “middle size” (between a laptop and a tv) seems to be incredibly difficult for manufacturing. I sure would like one but I am doubtful it will come soon or come cheap.

Attaching images of my set up now that I have an ASD alongside x2 MBA (one work and one personal).

Does anybody have advice on how I can make my workspace more minimal?

I figure I need to lose my
desk lamp OR need to add the Elgato Key Light onto a clamp instead of stand.

I could probably lose the Compass Pro for iPad as never use it.

  1. First Two images show the MBA housed via x2 Bookarc’s (maybe this is overkill?)
  2. Second two images show the setup without a book arc in use, replacing instead with Twelve South Curve stand

Put the computers on a shelf beneath the desk, and wall-mount the rest of it.

Look fantastic!
I wonder how you connected the Apple Extended I to your mac. Is the ADB-USB dongle still available? I have an Apple Standard never-unboxed.

Griffin iMate was the standard solution for years, but it has been discontinued and now goes for astronomical sums on eBay.

Luckily, this works perfectly, and is what I am using now:

(If only the power button would actually power on the 14" underneath the desk like it did my Power Macintosh 9600.)

I picked up a refurb - love it so far. I may pick up a second one at some point.

Just wish there was an easy and inexpensive way to remove the stand and switch to monitor arm if we eventually want to do that vs having to lock into that decision at purchase.

Yes, it'll be chargeable and I've not heard from anyone who's actually had it done yet.
I thought I had seen it would be in the $400-$600 range. If that’s the case I would rather just bite the bullet and order it that way and buy arms vs convert later.

I just bought a standing desk and am redoing my office so need to decide do I go all in now or live with the stand for a while.

That does seem pricey, even by Apple's standards. Maybe it will be cheaper if you're going from a stand to vesa?

FWIW, I'm using mine on an arm with my standing desk. It saves desk space and is very adjustable which is useful depending on whether I'm sitting or standing.

If you order the Studio Display with the tilt- and height-adjustable stand it costs 400$ more than the standard stand or the vesa mount. So changing from standard or vesa to tilt- and height-adjustable stand will cost at least 400$ plus maybe whatever fee they charge to change the stand. But changing from standard to vesa or vice versa should be a lot cheaper.

I am still undecided on getting the standard or tilt and height-adjustable. Will probably own this long term, so guess if undecided should go with the tilt and height-adjustable.

Using mine since May '22 and still love it. Also the cam, mic and speakers works very well for me in long video conferences which I have neary every day.
