If Apple’s claims were true, then he’s no reporter but a corporate espionage. They not only when as far as illegally accessing confidential business assets, but also got his friend fired. What a POS.
He is not a reporter, regardless of Apple’s claims. He is a YouTuber, not a journalist, conducting by certain principles, working for a news establishment, or having studied journalism.

The fact that some people get their “news” from YouTube or TikTok doesn’t mean video creators are news reporters.

Prosser is a news reporter? For what publication?

In the US anyone can qualify as "reporter", including private citizens without affiliation to traditional publishers.

Prosser most definitely qualifies as reporter as freelancer with a tech-news-oriented YouTube channel.

Due to the very strong First Amendment protections in the US it's very difficult to prevail as plaintiff in these kind of lawsuits but we don't know all the facts yet.

Nobody cares about apples attempt to pretty up iOS. Apple is all about new colors and making it's products thin and pretty.

This lawsuit has absolutely nothing to do with whether Prosser is a journalist. The statement of claim by Apple makes no reference to this because it's completely irrelevant.

What Prosser did was conspire by paying someone to steal and access a prototype phone. Then, he was involved in exploring the confidential software and used the recordings for monetary gain. If Anderson Cooper at CNN did this, he would be guilty.

Journalists have some protection from revealing confidential sources. They are not shielded from criminal acts.

Leaks and Rumours massively increase interest around a product, which let’s be honest Apple desperately need considering how dull and predictable they have become since Steve’s death. If Apple had any sense they would be encouraging it, (or even involved in it)…not going after the people who do it. Suing someone for this strengthens the image of them being just another soulless corporation and nothing like the creative company Steve tried to portray.
So Apple should be grateful their pre-release software is being improperly accessed and trade secrets are being leaked over the internet?

Sue some random guy that somehow was close in guessing…but don’t sue German and Kuo for constantly leaking out product details, launch dates, etc….Typical Apple
He's clearly not some random guy, he's a notorious Apple leaker and he didn't just randomly guess anything.

Forgot to mention: this is not necessarily what happened, only what Apple alleges.

We don't know all the facts yet and apparently Prosser argues the facts are different from what Apple represented.

Well if Sam Kohl thought he was going to get invited to Apple events in the future, his association with Jon Prosser kills that chance now... /s

But in all fairness, this is a true scenario of innocent until proven guilty. Apple has to prove that he illegally obtained this information via the way they stated and if they cannot, I do not foresee this case holding up in court. I assume him posting means he has already been in contact with lawyers regarding this though.

Allegedly!! I don’t believe he would have done anything knowingly criminal. Innocent until proven guilty.

Anything is possible, but Apple says they have forensic evidence showing Ramacciotti called Prosser along with an audio message from Ramacciotti detailing the scheme to the Apple employee. They seem to have used FaceTime calls to communicate, which just adds to the stupidity of this group.

Not necessarily: it's not illegal to publish information obtained legally, even if said information comes from a third-party that obtained it illegally.

Apple will work a deal with Ramacciotti to bring Prosser down. The group was dumb enough to use FaceTime calls meaning lots of forensic evidence. This is a civil jury trial, meaning the threshold for winning comes down to which side's story is slightly more convincing.
