This is just scratching the surface. Lots more growth potential over the current decade.

The alarm clock issue, by the way, CHANGES NOTHING.

Apple still - as always - sets the standard.

Even with Apple products, there have been bugs now and then. Compared to the also-rans, they've been few and far-between, and thankfully, the superior (with a capital S) User Experience across the board helps make up for the few niggles we do come across.

Compared to the rest, all for all, Apple is a breath of fresh air in tech. They never cease to push the industry forward and show the way. Their success is well-deserved, in part because the company is run by a guy who actually cares about what he puts his name to and actually gives a damn about how everyday people should interact with tech.

I invite the trolls to continue to ride the clock bug to the fullest. Because sadly, that's all they could find. It's usually bad for trolls on MR, and I don't mind letting them have their fun now and then, even if it's utterly laughable.

$300 Billion but can't make a clock work.

You really are a party pooper.

This is what trolls do for a living these days. They really have nothing left except to harp on minor glitches. This and the fact that there large numbers of "Debbie Downers" out there who always look for the negative, be it computers, toasters, or crayons. Unhappy people trying to make others unhappy too. What a sad lot they are.

I can't believe Exxon is still higher. Maybe money normally that flowed to BP Oil went to them after that crisis. For once, I would like to see Apple at the number #1 slot in this Market Cap category.

The entire Apple story from the 70's to today would make a nice movie.

You were lucky. I don't recommend that ANYONE put all their money into Apple, or any other company. Diversify.
It was a just an expression for the fun of it because I did indeed pump a lot in, inasmuch I could.

As a long time investor I've always diversified and that's why I had it to reinvest in Apple.

I bet the farm on Apple in 1996, bought a massive number of shares when the price was $24.19.

Then I just kept pumping money in because my broker and I, as well as many others had a good feeling about it. Today I'm very glad I did. Long term investing is something that many fail to subscribe to.

There's no way in hell anyone could have guessed in 1996 that Apple would turn out this way because of the iPod/iPhone momentum. Nevertheless, congratulations to your luck and GREAT intuition. Was a good move to put your money into this company.

Does this mean we can finally get new processors?

We won't get new processors in products that use integrated graphics till sandy bridge, because current intel integrated graphics suck. I don't get how a company can even consider themselves competitive, while offering intel graphics.

As long as Steve hates Blu-ray, we probably won't see much involvement from Apple on that front.

I really don't know what Steve Jobs thinks about Blu-ray, but the movie industry has some rather ridiculous requirements for hardware and drivers to make sure you can't copy Blu-ray movies. Playing Blu-ray is not really that difficult. Playing Blu-ray while locking down the computer so that no hacker can copy the movies is a lot, lot harder and a major pain. And the penalties if hackers get in are stiff.

P/E is awfully high

Not to rain on anyone's parade but you should look deeper in the numbers to see how warranted a stock price is.

Ticker P/E DivYield
AAPL 21.76 0.00%
MSFT 12.09 2.30%
XOM 13.21 2.40%

Note that Apple has nearly twice the price to earnings ratio of Microsoft and Exxon Mobile. Also, both Microsoft and Exxon pay dividends which Apple does not. At some point Apple will have a bad streak and then their price will either drop or stall until the P/E is back within industry norms. Read up on bubbles if you don't think so.

Just for disclosure, I actually own several K$ in Apple by way of Powershares QQQ (ticker: QQQQ) which is currently 20% Apple. I don't want to see it drop but it likely will at some point.

We both know it but, if the clock bug happened under android, you and others would be frothing at the mouth and screaming about how android sucks, however since it happened under apple....

That is amazing, how much is apple paying in dividends.?

Android sucks anyway. A clock bug would actually be good news.

$300 Billion but can't make a clock work.

At least my iPhone will let me send a text message to my buddy without inadvertently sending it to, say, my boss. Unlike Android.

Microsoft and Exxon have low ("normal") P/Es for a reason - weak growth potential. Where does Microsoft go from here? Is demand for oil going to triple anytime soon?

Amazon's P/E is at 74 right now. Netflix is at 68. You want irrational stock pricing? Apple ain't it.

So now iOS and Android are the same? Stop trying to justify Apples on going streak with tons of bugs and issues.

I love Apple, but the alarm clock thing is slightly ridiculous.

That is such a minor issue to complain about. Stuff happens man. I mean current goes out and your clocks stops. You get up and go where you have to go and move on. By no means is apple perfect but complaining about something where it doesnt work 2 days out of (i dont know if this is yearly problem unless they fix or just a 2011 Jan 1 and 2 problem) whatever it is.

What was ridiculous was the antennae issue. But hey it was what it was. It was apples fault for having it and it was ours for now waiting for the review to buy it.

Moving on congrats to apple on their performance. Hopefully they keep their customers and design in mind as they grow and grow. Even though it gets harder and harder to concentrate on individual customers/demographic due to the broadening of your user base.
