Also: Apple's chargers aren't even that good. If I'm using any new chargers, they will be from Anker or Aukey.
Or maybe the new iPhones simply cost more to make? And that the savings due to fewer bundled accessories and lower shipping costs could go towards offsetting a possible price increase from 5g modems and other new technologies. If their excuse for not including a charger is e-waste reduction... then they darn well need to reduce the price of the iPhone for the amount they charge for a charger + shipping.
If the price of the iPhone stays the same— the real reason is obvious: Greed.
A narrow world view? Lol. I am giving you an opinion on a charger. I am telling you my own experience and opinion. It's a way for Apple to save themselves some money, not a way for them to save the planet.
It is sort of like being asked if you would like to receive your brand new car with tires or without, since most of us have at least one car with us already and since tires are so costly, we could just put them in the car we need and leave the other car on jacks. If we need to use all our cars in the house at the same time, we buy tires for all of them. If not, we have saved the environment. Surely, a person who can afford a multi-thousand dollar car can afford a multi-hundred dollar spend on tires, yes?
Many other companies have done this before (Nintendo with the “new” 3DS XL being the most recent in my mind).I, and I assume most people, sell it with their old phone, therefore we need a new one with whatever phone we upgrade to. Stop being cheap and continue to include the adapter.
This makes no sense. Tires wear, and not only that but dry and crack over the years if unused. Chargers retain the ability to charge perfectly. I have chargers from 10 years ago that still perform like new. Paul Walker died in part because the tires on the Porsche were original and therefore ~10+ years old, chargers don’t represent the same risk.Last I checked most car owners don’t have 20 old tires from their previous cars sitting around.
I trust that other brands make good chargers, but personally, l'd still only buy a third party charger if it's sold by Apple, as I would trust the provenance of the supply chain. I'm probably not the only one who was alarmed years ago reading about counterfeit iPhone chargers which were missing critical circuity to prevent damage (or even fire).
Now there's one complaint about Apple that I never thought I'd hear....Stop being cheap...
So, you've always been satisfied with using the slow 5W charger your phone shipped with? You never discovered that even iPhones without "fast charge" can charge a lot faster with a better USB charger?I, and I assume most people, sell it with their old phone, therefore we need a new one with whatever phone we upgrade to. Stop being cheap and continue to include the adapter.
Stay away from the Apple fast charger 18 or 20 watt, then.I just BOUGHT another 5 watt charger! They don't last forever.
And the bigger chargers (12 watt iPad etc) heat up the battery too much.
Far more likely scenario - it will reflect in a $19.99 increase in shareholder dividends.I am ok with that if it reflects in a -$19.99 in my purchase.
