How can an unannounced product be "delayed"?

my thoughts exactly... I'm definitely not anti-tablet, but at the rate these rumors are coming out (and becoming more and more difficult to believe), I'm becoming more and more convinced that the cost of this device- if it is ever released- will be waay over and above what I'd pay for a much higher-specced notebook (and that's already saying something considering how much more Apple charge for their notebooks in comparison to similarly-specced PC notebooks).

honestly, small(er) size/portability and touch-screen functionality aren't enough of a necessity to me that I'd consider buying one of these instead of a notebook, and it'd take a ridiculously amazing device to make me change my mind on that... that's not to say that Apple couldn't still pull off said device, but I'm not crossing my fingers about it.

How can it be delayed if we don't even know if it exist or not.... not to mention there has never been a release date from apple.

Honestly I was looking forward to one of these, but now I think Jesus might be back before we even get sneak peaks at "REAL" pictures.

2 grand for a tiny tablet.......SCREW THAT!

dumb dude, just plain dumb.

High price doesn't seem to affect the sale of Apple products, not many people purchase them with "value" as the utmost priority.

In the world of Apple.......

If you put a log on it, they will purchase.

Edit: That ^^ is supposed to say "logo" but I decided the statement still holds true :)

I'm so enough... what kind of "rumor" is this?!
Delaying it with half more year (well, from first half to second half) as "they make some final adjustments"... HEY, that would be a year from now (and BTW, the product has not even been announced)!
Jeez... I definitely shall get a life, and stop reading such BS rumors...

PS: for myself, a MB + an iPhone is more than enough. ;)
Now I only have to keep enjoying them just like I'm doing since I've got them. :p

Cheers!

Why not release the non-OLED version in Q1 and just update the screen later in the year when the tech becomes more affordable, you know, the way Apple does with every other product they make? This makes no sense at all.

That would just be mean. That would be like releasing a super cool phone/pocket computer, and not releasing any apps for it for a year. And waiting another year to add GPS. Apple would never do anything like that.

Oh, wait...:D

Barnes & Noble Nook it is for me then

Only thing i want a tablet style device for, iPod Touch and MBA do everything else I need to be mobile

but reading magazine/book content on something handy that doesnt strain me old eyes too much would be good

suppose I will get one if and when it should come out of the ether anyway, you know because Im a...Baaa Baaa Baaa

suppose it does come out with an OLED and it cost $2000.

suppose.......

it's fully touch screen, runs full blown OSX etc and is configured like a MBP but the really cool thing is when you get off the train after surfing the web or whatever, and get into your office, you take the IWHATEVER from it's pouch, lean it on it's accompanying dock with wireless keyboard and mouse and suddenly it works like a desktop.

i'm getting one of those!

when i'm old and in a nursing home and they finally release it, it might be useful as my arthritic hands could clumsily tap out my last words

Watch this thing get a screen that will get scratched the hell out of. Some people here complain about one small scratch on their iPod Touch. Now times that 10 inches! lol

Please stop! You're making me drool all over my desk. I would gladly pay $2000 for a Snow Leopard Tablet with 2GB of Ram and 720 lines of resolution. It is exactly what I want ... which probably means it won't happen :(

Oh yeah, if this thing is going to be priced at around $2000, then it is definitely going to be heavily geared toward graphic designers. I think it will cater greatly towards designers, that will be it's niche. Even though this is so, I think it will be able to do a whole lot more, i.e. be an e-reader, have the ability to run iphone/ipod apps etc . . Call it wishful thinking but hey . .

Everyone needs to cool their jets and wait for the technology to catch up to make this feasible. There are so many unrealistic expectations for this thing.

Apple didn't make the first MP3 player, but it made the best. Apple doesn't need to rush into the market, especially one that has never found any traction beyond novelty status.

Nah, I think that problem has already been resolved by Apple. It wouldn't make sense to go backwards as far as materials used are concerned.

MBP's are already underpowered and overpriced. Due to the sizing, the tablet will be even worse. It would be even less popular than the Air.

The problem is that it will cost $2000 and then be underpowered like the air. It won't be able to be your primary computer.

Agreed. The ridiculous amount of rumormongering about this mythical tablet is growing tiresome.

I'll tell you one thing, if this isn't the real deal time for the tablet to be released, then I will never rumor of the tablet again until it is a definite. So come January, we don't hear anything, the phrase, tablet from Apple will never again leave my lips until I hear an official announcement from Steve himself lol.

look

I still see no reason for an iTablet. Especially when I have an MBP and 3GS.

Same here I see no need especially if the itablet will cost well over $500. The most irritating thing though is that we may have to endure another 6 months+ of rumors and anticipation.

There are a lot of people out there just like me who sketch every day. It's our job. We carry a sketchbook with us everywhere we go. These sketchbooks are &10-20 a pop. we fill these up a couple times a month. And they start piling up, filling up space. An iSlate like this would be a Godsend. Thin, light, I can sketch, check email, listen to tunes, make iCal appointments without having to have a hulking laptop? Sign me up. It'd be the ideal bridge between the iPhone I don't have and my MP.

At that price, these tablets better run Photoshop etc.

Exactly.

I'll buy this thing even if it costs $2k. My reasons: portability and I like having my files on the go. I could consider a laptop like MBA but to me it feels more like a desktop which I already have. I don't care about ram/CPU specs on a mobile, I'd do light work like reading maybe sketches. I hated reading ebooks on the monitor so what I do personaly is print them off as paper and bind them together even it's around hundreds of pages but it feels more natural and I can read them as I commute on a subway or a bus standing/leaning against the wall. How awkward it would be if it was a laptop? you always have to find a place to sit and or find a flat surface.

As of the LCD vs oled, Apple is giving people choices. The Oled is the top
of the line, energy efficient thus more battery life. If they just released oled itself people will complain it's too expensive, LCD, they will still complain thus they release it both. Its just like MBA with the harddrive vs 64gb SSD. Choices!

it's not only him.....i too, don't see the need/use for a tablet.

Moi aussi. Lots of people don't see the point of Apple getting into the tablet market, just like the point of Apple getting into the gaming console market.

But if Google wants to get into the smartphone market, it's dumb. If they want to make their own OS, it's stupid. Whatever Apple comes up w/ is gold to these people who thinks Apple has a right to come up w/ anything they want.
