eBooks coming this afternoon he said?!

Does this mean there'll be a reader for the Mac or, better yet, a reader for the iPhone/iPod Touch coming today too?

Ability to read Kindle content would be killer but I can't see that happening. Market fragmentation here we come.

here come the rants!!!:rolleyes::D:p

Yeppers, the rants will come include those who want iTab instead of iPad or whatever. Some of the same people ranted about the iPhone that it was going no where are now ranting about the iTab. If those people were put in charge of Apple Apple would probably now be out of business. They are spring loaded to rants and negativism.

Who knows, Apple sometimes have products that fail but very seldom. Any generalizations might be a bit premature at the moment.

Agreed. The iPod touch is smaller (meaning more portable) and cheaper. If this device is $400-$500, it may be saved, but otherwise I'm guessing we have another Apple TV here. Something that will sell, but in limited quantities.
It does feel that way. They could leverage look what we did on the larger scale. Now it's PORTABLE!

"we've created the new iBook Store. You can download right onto your iPad."

I'm getting a little sick of all these "i's"

FYI there is a Kindle iPhone app my friend.

Um, yeah, many of us use Facebook to, you know, keep in touch with people, not for the goofy apps (Farmworld! YoYo Town! Mafia Wrestling Match!). I hate that annoying crap and wish Facebook didn't have it.

Did you hear the latest from the Facebook people? Facebook LOVES the apps and they've found they are, by a large margin, where it's at in terms of growing facebook. Connecting with people is nice and I use the iPhone app all the time but facebook apps are the things that are really driving facebook and now, twice in a row, Apple has said "no" to including facebook apps on their brand new devices. I'd be a little PO'd if I were the facebook people - this thing has a 1GHz processor - it can handle Flash just fine. No facebook apps, no video from anything other than YouTube, no Hulu. All of that could be fixed by just allowing people to install Flash - that's it. There's going to be a hack for it within 1 week of release and I'd bet most users will search it out and do it.

iRead would have been a better name. Unless it's taken. But then again, just take the name like they did for the iPad.

Also ... didn't Apple have a laptop with a similar name? Oh what was it called, it was pretty popular I believe.

Oh...yeah...the iBook! :rolleyes:

I'll stick with my iphone and MBP for now. There's nothing THAT exciting about the ipad that is going to make me run out and get one. Maybe they'll add some stuff next time around; video camera, etc...

I wonder what it's like typing on that?

Probably wonderful.

The iPad is glossy right? And backlit? I can't imagine that a device like that is very reading friendly, it probably puts quite a strain on the eyes if you read for a few hours...
