Article makes sense. I also don't see dual options available; in the recent years Apple has been a big fan of "less is more", so if anything, the only options that will differentiate models would most likely be memory, just like with the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Having a OLED model priced higher than an LCD version would cannibalize the LCD versions' sales, as it would give the consumer the feeling that the LCD version wasn't as good. Apple likes selling things that sell well, not niche items that cost more because they utilize more expensive technology.

Then why is Apple still selling Mac pro towers? Same could be said of earlier Powerbook, Powermac, and MBP models that were often equipped with much higher price-tags in certain configurations. Think Quad and Octo Core machines with high end GPUs or the early 17" notebooks, or special BTO machines with higher CPU clock rates. Yikes!!! I spent $500 on my first generation 10GB ipod some 7-8 years ago, and back then that was some serious coin to spend on an mp3 player. Some 3 years ago people were spending $600 on the first generation 8GB iphone!! Hmm... Apple's Cinema Display line is also a great example of costing much more than it should to serve a niche market. Apple has proven many times that they could give a hoot if a product sells in volume but are more than pleased to introduce showcase products that only an insane few would buy.

I never said that. It's an individual taste. I'm sure there are a few who like them. I'm just saying all of Apples products are geared in "Design" to women and gays. I mean really, they don't even offer a laptop in black anymore.
as a woman i love the design,Black is 1970's and has been done to death.

Will you let it go already, the dude said he didn't mean anything by it. That's the problem with you gays. If you weren't so damn in your face about your beleifs maybe more people would except you.

Here you go, making assumptions about someone being gay and being so damned in your face about it, when he isn't gay in the first place. Proves that you saw something that most definitely wasn't there. So the next time a gay person is "so damned in your face about it", check whether it isn't your prejudices that makes you believe it. Could it be that you just are so insecure about yourself that when cmaier refuses to accept some stupid prejudices that you feel attacked by him?

Furthermore, I found previous assumptions about what kind of laptops women would like completely ridiculous, unfounded, and most women would find them insulting. And assuming that the average gay person has the same attitudes as the average woman is seriously stupid as well.

File this report under "D" for Duh. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out an OLED for a tablet isn't practical or economically feasible in 2010.
It may not take a rocket scientist, but it obviously requires someone who possesses critical thinking skills. Considering the number of people who wanted a sub-$1000 tablet with OLED, those skills are in short supply.

I, too, applaud that we finally have a believable rumor. OLED ain't ready for prime time, and doesn't offer enough of an advantage for the cost (and in fact offers several critical disadvantages).
People have been saying this, but a number of people were unwilling to face the truth.

I just don't understand why they cater so much to women and gays? Most of the people who actually buy electronics are men.
Actually, women have a significant say in all purchases (including electronics) in a household. That's why companies are trying to appeal to women. However, most manufacturers don't know how to design a functional, easy to use electronics device.
Ease of use and attractive design aren't simply the interests of women and gays.
Besides discounting women's opinions in purchases, you also seem to be a bit archaic when it comes to what people want to buy. A lot of people appreciate easy to use and attractive products.
