Hmm, it better be 30% off the new MacBook Pro with four free integrated USB type-A ports and bonus integrated SD card reader...

I can't wait for another 5% off dongles!

I still don't get it.

There are no affordable external USB-C solid state hard drives that exist.

What does USB-C really do for anyone other than increase file transfer speeds, and support bigger better monitors?

How is this a future that matters to the majority of Macbook Pro buyers, within the next foreseeable 3 years? (honestly 3 years is 3/4 of a laptop's prime lifespan, and 1/2 of how long it might last before it's worth 30% or less of its original purchase price).

10 Dongles for the Price of 9!
Can't wait to pick up some dongles.
5% off dongles
Get a iPhone 7 or 7 Plus and get a $50 Apple Gift Card (to buy more dongles)
Fanboy special, order any dongle and get FREE "Steve is Rolling Over..." mock turtleneck.

MacRumor article would be nothing nowadays without the obligatory LAME dongle comments. I personally find it Incredibly stupid!!

This year we have gone all out. This gorgeous discount we are offering is the thinnest we have ever done.
It is so thin that when I hand it to you you might think wow this is also the lightest discount you have ever had. It is 0mm thick and is 100% transparent and weighs 0kg.

We offer, the zero discount.

I'm ok with paying for an APPLE produced dongle, because it's a new revenue stream, but the simple fact that I can't plug in two lightning cables that support data, power, and/or audio (including microphone) on both sides is (bleeping) ridiculous. Any person using their iPhone as a professional device especially for video, just got (bleeped).

This is why Steve is rolling over and Ive is a (bleeping) joke as a product designer.

There's nothing professional about Apple products anymore. And sorry, there certainly has never been anything professional about using an iPhone for anything - it's just a phone, not a professional camera.

I too think these will be US/Canada centric only offers too.

Third party retailers here in the U.K. might offer discounts on some Apple products but can't imagine massive savings will be found.

Dell must be trying to get rid of some of their inventory though... noticed an advert for one of their Core i3 Inspiron laptops for £199-down from £379.

Edit: is showing on the UK store too. IMG_2172.PNG

Probably the buy a device and get a gift card idea. Also in the past there has been minor discounts on some hardware accessories. Airport stuff probably, as they will be trying to shift it!

I don't expect anything huge. Maybe a discount on some accessories, especially Beats, and maybe the comments about watch bands hit the spot, they could offer a discount on those as well.

I wonder if there will be any deals on the new MacBook Pro--percentage off or free gift or card with purchase. And if so will those of us who just bought the new MacBook Pro in store be able to return and rebuy it to get said deals. Since we have until Jan 8 to return right now. Hmmmm

The event shows in every EU store I've checked. Doesn't show up in RU, CN, TW or JP store front page. I guess it's everywhere in the West with reasonable buzz around Black Friday.

Everyone that bought a TB MBP is still within their return window so I'd be surprised if they offered discounts on those knowing a bunch of people would return/rebuy to get the discount.

White dongles while all their hardware is aluminum. Hideous.
That one makes me laugh too. The dongles were white, because all the hardware you would use them on was also white. Now if you want to get a matching dongle, you have to buy it from somewhere other than Apple - ridiculous. They even brought the Airpods out in white, a color the iPhone is NOT produced in either.

And why is their hardware all aluminum in the first place? It's as ugly as anything, especially on the Mac range with the huge black bezels. This might have looked great in the 1990s, but these days almost all computer related tech is BLACK. Personally, everything on my computer table is black, with the only exceptions being my iMac and Apple touchpad.

I hate to use a Bill Gates type quote, and for the record I don't think it was a great decision by Apple, but it helps to force the paradigm shift. Everyone has been making do with good old fashioned USB2 (and more recently 3) for ages and whilst it's ubiquitous and works well enough, we need to move on to the next thing. USB-C is of course a better technology when you consider all factors.. but unless some companies grow some balls and FORCE people to adopt it, they never will.

I guess Apple are willing to go through short term pain in terms of negative press and disgruntled customers, to force manufacturers into producing new, high quality, USB-C accessories.

Last year, Apple SVP of Retail Angela Ahrendts said the company was backing away from Black Friday promotions because "being good to your employees will always be good for your business."
I don't know if I'm reading this wrong, but this sounds like some serious Orwellian newspeak - twist it around and it could mean "people don't need gifts/promotions if they get to keep their jobs, be happy with your crumbs underlings!"

Hopefully they do something spectacular to take back their disappointed fan base. They wont be able to do anything with the MBP though as that would probably piss the early adopters off and most could probably still return it anyway.

I'm getting a new 7 Plus if they throw in a gift card. That gift card is then going to a pair of AirPods when they become available.

Will those Black Friday Deals be combinable with the EPP (Employee-Purchase-Program)?
Any experience from the last years?
