Predict disappointing boring event with no announcement of Mac Pro or new MBP.:(

My prediction is December hence 2020:mad:

Surprise would be a announcement of one of the two computers above.

Gotta go.
I have a game at 5:30.

Great... we just got the hardware show last week: ALL THAT IS OLD IS NEW AGAIN. Can’t wait to see what’s on SHOWTIME!

I like several of the Netflix original series. I agree several of them are bad but there are some good ones. And the stuff I like the most is no ads, no logos, no previews, and 4K and no stupid censorships. I like all the marvel series, travelers, stranger things, etc.
I am onboard with most of your comment. I am not against new shows mind you. It is just hard for me to like a lot of the new material (as it were).

We must be watching completely different shows.

Canned laughter is something of the 1980s. Sitcoms these days have it a lot less. (What you may think to be canned laughter is in fact typically a laugh track from the live studio audience, these days.) And if you still find that annoying, try a different genre?

Television shows have moved from largely episodic to far more serialized content, with much deeper character development and longer plot arcs.
I haven't come across the deeper quality character development and content. If you have some suggestions, I will take a look.

Shows like breaking bad, better call Saul, Fargo, counterparts, Barry, the tick, the expanse, etc are all better than tv 30 years ago.

Really? Like a *compact* desktop computer with four 40 Gbit/sec Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports, two USB-A 3.1 ports, an optional 10 Gbit ethernet NIC, super fast SSD options, fast CPU options, up to 64 Gbytes of RAM, Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI 2.0, built-in power supply, able to drive three 4K (or a 5K and 4K display), etc? Or the just updated iMac Pro?

The problem is that this gem of egineering is the cheapest offering to own a Mac. Even if you don’t need a actively cooled top speed SSD nor four TB3s.

Apple didn’t the user the option to choose whether they need faster built-in graphics, faster storage, or external extendablity. And therfor for many the machine won’t be a match.

As some home luxury gadget its a great thing, but again, it’s the entry offering and still not affordable for many since they have to pay for ridiculously expensive base features they don’t need and still can’t change.

That entry offer that the Mini should be basically does not exist due to its overpriced base config. Who needs an i3 with an actively cooled tiny turbo SSD??

I still love Apple’s engineering here, but marketing seems a desaster.

Let’s hope that this was just a first step in a strategy that will bring a more balanced entry desktop offering.

What on earth does this have to do with tomorrow’s event?

Apple is teasing its media event tomorrow with a tongue-in-cheek "live stream" of the Steve Jobs Theater on its website.

We've been watching the stream at a glance for around six hours now, over which time we've seen everything from people cleaning the stage to a video of a dancer to an incoming iPhone call from Captain America actor Chris Evans. Marvel fans will be disappointed to hear that Apple missed the call.

Update: NBA star Kevin Durant may be at the Apple Event tomorrow based on the latest teaser of an iMessage conversation with Tim Cook. Apple is working on an original series about Durant's early life for its streaming video service.
Apple's keynote begins at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Monday.

Let me know if you see an iPhone XS in red. Thanks

I still don't get what they are pushing.

$9.99 PER channel? That is laughable.

What differentiates their offerings from other providers?

Its centennially not going to be cost.

You have to ask someone higher up in the thread history.

It might fit the general “fearing Apple’s next business decision” theme, though

I very much disagree.
FAWLTY TOWERS, SHERLOCK HOLMES (with Jeremy Brett), POIROT, YES MINISTER, RED DWARF, THE YOUNG ONES, FRASIER, CHEERS, COLUMBO, THE PROFESSIONALS, ... just off the top of my head. And yes, I know those are not exactly 30 years ago, some 40, some 25 years ago, but you may get the point.

Fargo is good though, the rest, whatever :)

I wonder how many of the usual suspects are actually watching this? I can think of 8 or 10 who probably are.

Id like to see Apple announce iMessage for Android. Now that's a service I would gladly pay for. I don't care about entertainment services.

Is this event of any interest for anyone who isn't American, British, Australian, Canadian, Brazilian, French, German, Mexican, Norwegian and Swedish? Because those are the only locations where the TV App is available. As to the News service, it's restricted to the first four. So... Who is this event intended for?
Things change. Apple is reportedly rolling out the video streaming service to 100+ countries by the end of the year. Worldwide rights are difficult/expensive to acquire though so I don’t think we’ll know what will be available where until it actually launches.

So...services is where you’re gonna be now, Apple?

End of an era, truly... We are gonna see more and more mediocre hardware, until the day you stop making hardware altogether.
Their hardware is leading in several areas.

Mobile silicon
iPad
Facial recognition
Neural engine
Wearables: Watch, Airpods...not even close
Device life

They are among leaders in:

Mobile cameras
Color accurate displays

Apple gear still has the best resale value because Apple is still leading in support and software updates.

Services are a natural progression of their hardware dominance and number of active devices.

I loved The Professionals. Great cast.

It’s not allowed to use UK shows as a reference, though, I’m afraid.

As someone who hasn't had an Android phone in close to 10 years, why do you want iMessage. I've had no complaints about iMessage, but I guess I've always assumed there is/was an Android analog that basically did all of the same things. Is there an Android messaging service? Is there a problem with it? Or is it just a case of the 2 systems being incompatible and people being unable to contact someone using the other OS, kind of like not being able to Skype someone using FaceTime?
