Maybe I'm missing something.. It seems unnecessary to receive these prompts after updates. But do people not know their Apple ID password??

YES! Because I'm out here deployed in Afghanistan with someone who doesn't know their info. Why? I have no clue!

Wonder how long it is going to take Apple to fix all these problems? Safari links not "clickable"? WTF?

No thanks!

Hopefully this gets resolved very soon. Amazing this was not an testing issue (if tested at all) on a major point update...

Of course it was tested, but seemingly even people in similar situation have differing result, so seemingly testing is not enough to cover/discover this edge case. It may occur only with a certain set of circumstances on certain devices. Only you have those circumstances, it does not happen.

Some people want to conclude these issues are only on the iPad 2 or iP5... I don't think that is the case. Some are having issues on an iP6, no?

Well, considering nearly 100% of people here, and on other site, having this issue seem to have the Ipad 2 3G, if it does happen to other newer device, it may be some other issue altogether.

Apple has temporarily stopped offering the iOS 9.3 update for older devices like the iPad Air and earlier and the iPhone 5s and earlier due to installation issues some users have experienced. On older devices, iOS 9.3 requires users to input the Apple ID and password originally used to set up the device, which can lead to the device becoming stuck at the Activation Lock screen if the original account information can't be recalled.

In a statement given to iMore, Apple says it is working on a fix and plans to issue a new version of iOS 9.3 in the next few days. Customers with an affected device who attempt to download iOS 9.3 during this time will not be able to install the update as Apple has stopped signing it.

For customers who have already installed iOS 9.3 and have gotten stuck at the Activation Lock, Apple has published a support document with steps on how to solve the issue. Apple recommends removing Activation Lock via iCloud or attempting to enter an Apple ID or password through iTunes.

Update: Apple has released a new build of iOS 9.3 for the iPad 2 and may be planning to roll out updates for additional devices. Apple has not yet resumed signing iOS 9.3 for affected devices.

[doublepost=1459183458][/doublepost]I upgraded my 5s last week and haven't had any issues with the phone, apps or install.

My recommendation is not to poopoo people having issues. Plenty of examples here of people with 1 ID/password, who are having problems.

THINKING you know it all, and ridiculing others(even worse), when all the info is not known, will always get a snarky comment from me.
So basically you are saying that I shouldn't be posting snarky comments because then you will post snarky comments. Mmmm k.

Lots of people are annoyed like that and it is so funny.

Here comes a disclaimer: the names Jack, Jill, Tracy and Tom are just placeholders and are used with no intent to offend anyone or to point at anyone actually having those names.

Apple sucks at A and B, but is pretty good at C, D.
Android is pretty good at A and D, but sucks at B,C.
Windows 10 is good at B and C, but sucks at A,D.

C and D are critical for Jack's and Jill's use cases so they use Apple (and even like it).
They still complain about A and B, as they wish their tools to suck as little as possible.

When Tracy and Tom come to Apple discussion forum, show their annoyance and start telling Jack and Jill what they should do (use Android or Win), Jack and Jill tell Tracy and Tom where they should go (there are some destinations) and what they should do there (the variety of possible actions sucks in comparison to destinations, but nevertheless).

LOL. I like this.

And you clearly have lot of evidences about those ridiculous accusations, right?

You clearly do not understand humor, sarcasm, and can't read more than one thing at a time and only have memory for one post. Read it again, maybe you'll get it the second time around.

I upgraded to 9.3 on my iP5s and Air Gen 1. I had no activation issues, still Apple wants me to reinstall it. What shall I do?

HI ALL
My phone screen on iOS 9.3 all of a sudden doesn't turn on this afternoon, so i tried to hold the home and power button to do a force restart. Then it got sucked at the Apple logo screen. I had to restore my phone using DFU method, but then I am currently stucked at activate screen, it's telling me it's linked to an apple ID which doesn't belong to me. I purchased the phone on craigslist on Oct 2015, with the original receipt. At that time i checked carefully to make sure find my iPhone on the phone itself is not on, and i checked the activation status is showing not locked. After some digging online, it seems like the apple ID is belong to the previous owner. The scariest part is now it's showing activation lock: ON. I tried to contact the seller, no luck. I called Apple just now, and the lady said she will have to escalate this for me. I know many ppl have issue w/ activation on ios9.3, but in my case here I can't seem to find many answers on here. Has anyone experiencing something like this?

Did you install the original or new version of iOS 9.3? The newer one fixes the activation problem.

New version i believe, because i did it yesterday. It's very frustrating as this comes up 6 months after i purchased the phone. Very difficult trace back to the original owner

Does your phone show up in the Find my Phone section of iCloud? If it does, the phone should be activated under your Apple ID and you can try removing it. If it doesn't then you may out of luck.

It doesn't show my phone on there. I got the receipt when i purchased it from the seller and I already sent it to Apple Support. However the name and address section got crossed out for security reason, it does show the serial number though.

Also when I met the seller, i ensure find my phone is turned off on the phone and activation is OFF on the check activation lock site. At that time I wasn't aware he has to remove the device on iCloud.com, is this something new?

If the activation lock check said it wasn't locked then it shouldn't have been on Find My Phone on iCloud.com since that's what the activation lock is checking for.

Sounds like either you mistyped the serial number when checking originally or somehow something broke and the phone locked under the old Apple ID (seems very unlikely though).

I would check the activation lock page. If the phone is locked, you'll need to have the original owner unlock it.

I am thinking it maybe some kind of bug with the 9.3, previous updates it went smoothly. Hopefully Apple will get back to me with some good news. It's tough because the phone wasn't stolen, I still have the iMessage history with the seller and the original receipt

iOS updates don't normally require re-activating the device so if your phone was activation locked you'd never know unless you did a restore of the phone.

For some reason the original iOS 9.3 was requiring users to log in with an old Apple ID that had previously activation locked the phone (this was fixed). Also by doing a DFU you'd definitely not be able to continue if the activation lock was on.

My guess is that the phone was activation locked this whole time but installing iOS 9.3 and doing a DFU exposed that. Hopefully Apple can help you since you have the purchase receipt.

I have an older ipad and I apparently updated when I wasn't supposed to. My ipad will not activate now. I am the sole owner of this device so there isn't another Appleid used. It does not show up in "My Devices". I have done the reset through iTunes twice and I am still not able to get it to activate. I have never changed my password or my username. I have read numerous articles on this but no one is telling me HOW to fix it other than download the newer 9.3 version. Well, I can't get in it to download it, so how am I supposed to do that? Can someone please help me with this?

You can install iOS 9.3.1, which has the fixes of the new iOS 9.3 versions.

You didn't mention what version of iPad you have. If it's an iPad 2 see this article:
