This is too funny - only 2 hours ago I got a text from my mom's husband because my mom couldn't use her phone (5) because she installed the update and didn't know her username and password. ...she stores her password in the Notes App, which she couldn't access because she couldn't get on her phone. (I just had her go into Notes App on her iMac ...which she had no clue she could do)

Everybody's got their panties in a knot. When there were 12 Apple devices in existence -- I know, I was one of them -- you would download it and it worked. From Compuserve. Or you could take 5 floppies to the computer store, and they'd let you have a copy of System 6 for free! Now, we're in the world of a billion Apple devices. It might take a day or so, but they'll work it out. I updated my iPad mini v2 with Retina, and that went perfectly.

Exactly! If you've got a device you can't be without then do not upgrade right after a new version is released. Even if it's a point release. Wait a week and let others deal with any major bugs that are uncovered.

Updated my wifes 5S and was surprised by the prompt. We had to go digging in some past notes of hers for her password, luckily we found it and got it installed ok. She just rarely uses her password for anything so it was a showstopper until we figured it out.

So it's your current password, even if your password was different when you first set up your device? Or it wants the password the device was originally set up with, even if it's been changed since?

I updated both my 5s and iPad 3, so I guess I dodged a bullet. Never saw that screen, then again, I performed my updates using iTunes on my Mac Book.

Encountered this initially but I managed to make it work after disabling FMI and reenabling it again afterwards. Was a bit of an annoyance, but glad to have this sorted!

This is starting to become the norm. Issues with every single update, no matter how big or small.

By the way, not the first time Apple pulls an update. Talk about embarrassing and unacceptable :(

Yeah, if I had an Apple ID password that I couldn't recall and didn't write down I would call it embarrassing and unacceptable!

There is nothing wrong with the software except that they didn't make an option to bypass iCloud setup to get access back to your phone when you don't know your password. While I'm sorry that some people are inconvenienced to have to remember or recover their Apple ID password I also don't expect Apple to spend a lot of time writing test cases for "User forgets password" scenarios.

The same way I don't expect car manufacturers to spend a lot of time minimizing the inconvenience of losing your car keys.

My iPad mini 2 was activated, but now it reboots randomly, even by just navigating inside the Settings app. What made it worst is that aside from not allowed to restore the iPad on 9.3, it does not allow me to restore from iCloud a 9.2.1 backup that I took before the update to 9.3.

They're still signing that version. Just download the IPSW, restore with it, and use your 9.2.1 backup...

They are going out of their way to help idiots who can't remember their icloud passwords. That's going above and beyond... Just makes me embarrassed by association to said idiots.
