Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to have my devices that fit my needs and my needs are:

- For quick and ultra portable: I have my iPhone 5 (don't like it any bigger, I even like the 3.5 screen better)

- For bigger screen and still ultra portable: I have my iPad mini

- For even bigger screen: I have my iPad

- For serious work AND still portable: I have my Macbook Air

- For taking over the world: I have my Mac Pro

I don't want a phone with 6.5, or 5.5, or 5.0, or related hybrid screen sizes that can't do the job as good as the 5 mentioned above. But that's just me. :D

Understandable but not everyone buys an iPad. I would prefer a larger iPhone.

growth in size, but what about specs?

A slightly larger iPhone is inevitable, but with regard specifically to it's camera capabilities, if the camera sensor isn't made to be larger than what it currently is that would be a very disappointing aspect of any bigger sized iPhone, IMHO.

As for a 13" iPad, I really just don't see the point of it when most consider the current 9.7" big enough, whilst you have a 13" MBA to fill in that mobile size slot very comfortable AND with the benefit of a keyboard.

I'm excited about this IF true.

I do not have large hands, but I've had a hard time holding the iPhone 5 from day one. Found that the narrow phone and aluminum back made the phone slippery and awkward to hold, with the phone always slipping out of my hand.

Besides, what's not to like about enjoying the media experience on slightly more screen real estate in a similar form factor?

If they're testing larger screen sizes they have to take into consideration the fact that iOS would have to change to accommodate the new size. If they keep the same resolution as the iPhone 5 and just increase the screen size, then they can't really call it "retina display" anymore. They could just double the pixel width and height for iOS but then that would seriously disturb the developers only after just recently doing so. Or, create a new mobile OS for a whole new platform. With talk about all these new changes like screen size and iOS 7, I wouldn't put it past Apple to move on to a completely new generation mobile OS made for these new devices. No home button, larger screen sizes, completely redesigned OS, new chipset and maybe even launching the new OS on the macbooks.

.....However, only one previous rumor, which we classified as "sketchy" emerged in May that pinpointed a 12.9" size for a future iPad.While we dismissed that rumor before, the Wall Street Journal's sources apparently confirm the testing of this large almost 13" screen size. The newspaper does explain that these new designs may never make it to market.

The eventual convergence of laptops and tablets......??

The eventual convergence of laptops and tablets......??

They''ve already converged. HP, for example, has Envy x2 - a full-fledged Win8 tablet that snaps onto a full-fledged keyboard deck. The next year will see a glut of hybrid notebooks from all the big players.

Why are people dismissing a 13" iPad?

Doctors, artists, videographers, factory supervisors, ibooks...
Plus far larger/lighter presentations for folks that do "that".
There's likely a huge market for these.
And it'll carry a higher margin than either of the smaller ones.

(Though I'm totally down with the people who are hoping it's testing for a MBAir.)

Additional 13" iPad? Why not. With a slim bezel it would still have a smaller footprint than DIN A4 paper and would be comparable to some magazines etc.

BUT at that size it would have to be very light, lighter than an iPad 4. Not sure thats possible/practical, yet (carbon fiber, Liquid Metal, better display technology, better battery technology etc.).

Also it would have to run a modified iOS interface (not just iPad mini style).
Theoretically, next year Apple could only sell devices with 4 different iOS UIs:
1) iPhones (1136x640 retina)
2) bigger iPhone "plus" (higher resolution, not just bigger pixels; extended iPhone UI)
3) iPad mini / iPad (2048x1536 retina)
4) bigger iPad "plus" (higher resolution, not just bigger pixels; extended iPad UI)

All that I'm interested in is watching the same forum members who claimed that any screen size larger than the iPhone 5 was insanely stupid to begin to drool over the prospect of larger screen size now. Hypocrites.

i'll be happy as long as they can keep the same overall body size for both the iPhone and iPad :apple:

Larger iPhone no thanks- after seeing the HTC one and one sv have to say iPhone screen size is just right.

Larger iPad - yes please, hurry up.
Funny probably carry both my mini for notes and a large one for drawings.
