The developer APIs are already in 8.0. I could see 8.1 being used for a rollout of bug fixes and enabling of the feature though.

Apple hasn't regularly posted betas for releases that aren't major though.

Apple seems to release betas for x.1 versions, For example iOS 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 all had betas.

instead of seeing iOS 9.0 next year, Apple may instead be planning on releasing iOS 8.1 in 2015, following by iOS 8.2 in 2016 possibly? similar model as OS X?

I hope it doesn't take as long as 7.1. I bet it does though.

Also, I know this is the smallest issue but I hope Apple fix the text zoom issue with folders. The folder name enlarges under the folder when you open it and it's really annoying!!

yosemite

one of these is probably going to support some of the new features in Yosemite as well. like turning back on the texting and icloud gallery.

Why on earth are they visiting MR!?

So they know what's happening in a different echo chamber.

and they can name the ones after different members of the Coleoptera order, rather than felines.

Not a chance.....

There are plenty of updates large enough to warrant a 8.X update relatively soon.

Apple Pay, iPad-specific features, Apple Watch support.....

These will all come in the next 6 months.

Do you want to fix the "horrible" battery life for IOS 3 also... Since at least 95% of people don't have a problem, just like in every IOS version.

Verify if some kind of rogue app with network function that is to blame.

Do you have any data to quantify your statement if not, hold your peace. I for one see a difference between iOS 8 vs iOS 7, in my normal day to day usage. If the only thing that changed is the OS then it is to blame.

The WIFI issue is very annoying. They need a fix for that ASAP. Right now that's the only issue I have. The connection drops like every 5 to 10 minutes. And yes, I've done a restore but it didn't help. In fact 8.0.2 has made the WIFI worse.

It shouldn't.

We should expect Apple Pay and iCloud Photo Library next month. And in November I do expect an update seeing as Yosemite will roll out with features related to the iPhone.

Well I'm glad they're testing it.. iOS 8 has been the worst iOS yet! It didn't have that many changes so I do not understand why so many bugs. When people pay premium price for a product we do expect quality in the product and the performance of the product.

iOS 8 does not have as many user-facing changes as iOS 7, but under-the-hood this is probably the most extensive update yet.

FWIW, iOS 8 has been a smooth ride for me so far. Only minor lagging in version 8.0, and 8.0.2 largely got rid of that. Stability and performance on my phone are now comparable to 7.1.2.

Hoping a restored camera roll is part of one of those.

+1

I honestly can't fathom why it was removed initially and hopefully it will be returned soon!

Yes I know about the photos tab but that is a rather cumbersome way to view your photos in my opinion!

I'm guessing:
8.1 = general bug fixes and SMS Continuity
8.2 = Apple Pay and iCloud Photo Library
8.3 = more general bug fixes and iPad Pro or Apple Watch if there isn't an iPad Pro
If there's an iPad Pro, I bet there will be 8.4 for the Apple Watch.

Are they going to test it with the iPhone 5 or Apple do not care about customers with iPhone 5, I just can not tell at the moment.

I used to wait impatiently for jailbreaks but these days I just don't see the point.

There's still so much that can be built in, though. JB apps could tap into the new widget functionality, do cool things with reachability, take advantage of the new screen space... I think there's still stuff to be seen. Plus I like having stuff actually on my home screen - I wish Apple had given us that option rather than just leaving it for JB!

Agreed, the wifi situation is disaster. No wifi, no Amazon instant video, no Orphan Black, and a very sad Analog Kid...
