I guess you could call me a republican. I am a Trump supporter even with all of his short comings. I’m all for marijuana and police reform. Alcohol does much more harm to the family then weed does and one is legal and the other isn’t. Being a cop is hard. You’re underpaid. Most of your encounters with “clients” are when they are at their worst times. Some try to kill you. You have some great cops and you have terrible cops. Can you imagine being in a situation wondering if someone may or may not pull a gun and kill you but you can stop it by shooting them first. You want to go home to your family as well. Then they reach for their waist and you kill them. Come to find out they didn’t have anything. That would be terrible.
Then you have the worst of worst where you get a guy that thinks he needs to kneel on someone’s neck when he’s already detained for multiple minutes to kill him.

The overarching and general goal of recent Democratic policies for police reforms aren't to make sure cops are unfairly punished for protecting themselves - it's to hold the bad ones accountable like you mentioned. Body cams have been a great start so far, and is something that has bi-partisan support for the most part.

However, even small marginal increases to try to increase accountability have failed because it's become popular to suggest that all Democrats want is to abolish policing.
