Ye can’t see them releasing another iMac this year. Sounds like a stand alone.

Be a big kick in the teeth to those who have just updated to 2019 iMacs.

It will be something to go with the new modular Mac Pro. Could release a stand alone monitor for that, and possibly a new form factor iMac Pro released at the same time. That would make sense as it would allow for better cooling on the iMac Pro and possibly user upgradable RAM if Apple have been listening to their customers. Probably not though. ;)

Will the imac pro be updated this year?
[doublepost=1554814641][/doublepost]Macs (MacOS) basically can run forever. I gave my parents my 2009 i7 Hackintosh and its running with no problems. I seriously doubt a 10 year old PC would be running without problems.

Haha! My exact same thought :p

Time to update from my 2012 iMac i7 that works as a charm still...

Seriously, that's the first priority that comes to mind?
I mean I would put a redesign up there as a pretty high priority. We have had this same general design since 2010. It would be nice to get it refreshed with something more modern looking. Highest priority? Nah. But still a priority none the less.

edit: and lets be honest, the current bezels are GIGANTIC. No need for huge bezels like that in 2019.

Redesign yes, but I honestly couldn't care about the bezels. I'm more concerned about important stuff like the SD card reader been at the back of the machine - move it to the front. Make it a useful work tool, not a pretty toy.

I'm more interested in thinner bezels. This is one area where I don't really mind thinner.

Perfect timing for when the 2012 Mini runs out of support in 2020-ish.
In contrast to notebooks, I don’t really mind the bezels on an external display that much. It‘s not like that space around the display would be used for anything else otherwise.

Nobody will see any difference in the type of LED backlighting used any more than they'll be able to tell what type of capacitors are used. This is backlighting technology, not display

more resolution with low end gpus lol how can anyone take apple seriously when for the last 10+ years the hardware could not keep up with the resolution. tim may think bigger is better

If the screen uses its own GPU (old rumors) then it might make a great companion to any of the new computers. I’ve personally been waiting for a great display to replace our family imac.

Bigger is always better, unless you are trying to cram yourself into an airline seat. Then I envy the 5-footers. My desk is not so big that I really want a monitor that big.

Time to start saving and kissing the wife's a$$....

Suspect this is more likely to be the Mac Pro display in the first case, with redesigned iMacs later, maybe next year.
Yep. Bet it releases with the Mac Pro and then the form factor and other goodies will spread to the iMac and iMac Pro the following year OR the iMac Pro will get it also get it this year and then the iMac the following year. That will probably be the death of spinning hard drives and fusion drives.
