It’s not for you. There are plenty of Japanese cars out there with Apple car play. For that amount I can get my own "self-driving" car by hiring a driver or ubering myself everywhere.
I can hire four to eight people to carry me to the mall in a palanquin like an ancient king.
The first 2008 Tesla Roadster cost $1,000,000 and today they hold EV market share.$100,000+ will put it out of reach for many people. Nice try Apple, but I believe this will be a miss! If Apple were in the $40,000 to $60,000 range they would likely sell a lot of these cars.
You are right. Why do I have a feeling no one wants or cares about Apple Car? Am I wrong?
SE arriving soon by AppleCar 3.0 in 2029! 😆100k baseline? What about an Apple Car SE for us less "fortunate"?
Post of the year!WHEELS NOT INCLUDED.
Set of four (4) wheels: $250,000
Porsche and Ferrari are not so far from this already. You're wrong. I'm confident Apple could put the logo on toilet paper and a segment would refuse to use any other. They just managed to create a backlog for $20 handkerchiefs.
Apple Air? Water? Dirt? Rocks?
"I refuse to breathe inferior regular air. It's Apple air or (literal) bust for me"
However, jokes aside: if the car is as envisioned in the first part of the article, that would be very interesting and Applesque- even at an insane Apple price. A "regular" car with a steering wheel, etc that offers some highway assist is just another car... unless, it comes with dynamic island, the "iconic" notch ("that's not a notch, it's more windshield to the left & right") or both. (I'm just not good at "jokes aside").![]()
Sadly cars are getting more like a subscription in near future.I still can't figure out why Apple would want get into the car business it just doesn't make any sense to me. I thought it made sense if they were working on systems like CarPlay and autonomous driving but an actual car seems like such a big leap. Maybe the whole Apple Car thing is just Apple's way of trolling Elon so whenever Elon ticks off Tim they release Apple Car rumors to mess with Tesla.
Many people can’t afford Audis, Mercedes, Porsche yet they’ve been making them for decades because people are buying them. Apple Car will be no different. You are right.
This is something that 99.9% of the population simply cant afford.
It is the Studio Display... the Fully loaded Mac Pro... The Gold Apple Watch (remember that?)...
Like it or not they can release what they like and make it as 'amazing' as they like but for a car, when there are better alternatives for half the price many people simply wont be able to afford it.
It only really makes sense to me as a project built entirely around Apple hardware's increasingly beefy machine learning capabilities combined with self-driving. "Apple wants to make an effectively new category of personal vehicle", that I can buy, so I really don't see why they'd continue with the half-measure of just designing "a car with Apple branding" like this report suggests. It just seems weird.I still can't figure out why Apple would want get into the car business it just doesn't make any sense to me.
