I don't see Apple phasing out the MBP line.

I DO see them altering the MBA design to better differentiate from the new MBPs when they're reintroduced with a redesign.

I fear the "redesigned iMac" may be to allow for more powerful computing to replace the Mac Pro :/

95% of the PC's I see ARE made out of plastic! Just because yours isn't doesn't mean all of them aren't! Most others are.

Oooh, an overhaul. Probably cleaning up the mess that can incriminate them.

Good luck Apple!

Those are just a few examples. I don't just like macs operating system better! And I hate Ubuntu as well. Ubuntu sucks.

Oh please no!! That would SUCK!! Touchscreen desktops are a TERRIBLE IDEA!! They just kill your back! Even touch screen laptops would kill your back! The only things that are good with touchscreen tech are phones, tablets, mp3 players/iPods etc.

I thought so too. Having a touchscreen iMac in the line-up would muddy the extremely popular touch devices iPhone & iPad. But I would think it would be great if Apple would at least experiment with these:

- Put an ARM-based chips in a sleek 21.5" iMac. The processing power of iPad 2 is actually astounding considering how thin the device is. A Quad Core ARM chip should not be far away if Apple wants to push this idea. A full desktop Mac OS X on ARM with Flash drive and super thin enclosure like iPad would sell like hot cakes.

- Integrate Siri as a means to navigate your Apps. Imagine: Launch Safari, Google me this, How is Energy stocks are doing, sell 1000 shares of Nokia, etc while sipping coffee. It seems like a silly dream, but then again Siri sounds like a silly dream before iPhone 4S. You can dictate messages, send them, set up meeting, look how much electricity you used last night, organize your contacts, send group email, and have Siri comment on latest postings on Tweeter & Facebook. Imagine: "Sir, jack-dour commented on your Facebook that the movie sucked...."

-Siri should lock into user specific voice timbre & tone. So that only user/administrator could operate Siri.

- This of course will be a lite iMac. Don't expect to edit 4K videos, and do 3D simulation using these. This is the job for ...Mac Mini Pro -- Mac Pro with 60% reduction in volume (but taller than current Mac Mini), desktop chip, desktop GPU, HDD upgradeable, Thunderbolted, USB3 ready etc.

I really don't see them killing off the pro isn't the pro really popular in the "Industry" http://www.apple.com/pro/profiles/southpark/index.html

Mind you they did kill the xserve.

Those shots — and every element of animation — are stored on an 8.5-terabyte Xserve RAID running Xsan. The team also keeps 1.5 terabytes around for everyday processing and another terabyte for rendering. The new system can definitely keep up with the crew’s insane production schedule.

The macbook pro is obese and needs to lose some pounds in my opinion.

----------

It needs to be thinner.

Before my PowerBook I carried a 50-55+ lb Mac PowerMac with 15" LCD Display. With this much weight even all of the iMac models seem light to me. So my 17" MacBook Pro is light enough for me. Because of things that Apple has left out requires me to carry a lot of extra weight. So I don't want the MacBook Pro to get smaller. If it does I'll just have to carry another thing or 2 that will weigh more than that which was eliminated.

You'd build a PC because eventually you'll need a Hackintosh or Frankentoah depending on who you are. If Apple keeps dumbing down their OS & hardware a non Mac Mac will be a requirement. So far most of this is just rumors, but some isn't.

elaborate please...

No need to fear MacSince1990, re-watch jobs launching the first iMac... it was to target who people who wanted general computing, internet, music and movies. The apple way has always been to innovate by simplifying. Checkout the latest iMac/touchscreen patents, it's going to have a collapsable stand, once the screen lays flat on the table, it should turn to app launcher mode and you can use it like a giant iPad. Mac Pro's will be for the design/creative media industry that need powerful custom macs.

With the aging style of the iMac and Macbook pro, the emergence of higher resolution on the iPad, the current iPhone design going onto its 2nd/3rd year by the time it will release, I can definitely see a lot of this rumor panning out. We shall see.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Gotta wonder how much this rumor mongering hurts sales of current models ...

not where i live, sry

Sometimes Apple will come out with their model like everyone else does. But then they make no updates until the next really new model. To try to stay away from that is why there way the updates in the MacBook Pro line. It is to keep the models more up to date until the new ones come out as rumored in the 1st quarter of 2012. I would think that the same may be able to be done with the Mac Pro. It may be close to 2 years before it has an update.

Remember that promise of faster updates with the change to the Intel Macs. The Mac Pro has had a well in excess to 1 year between changes. Much loner than the G5 update schedule. This has nothing to do with what or which is better, it is just about the time between updates. There's really no way to compare an IBM G5 with a 6 year later Intel cpu. The Intel cpu had better be better. If not what were they doing the past 6 years.

There is a lot of room for improvement with the iMac. With Thunderbolt ports they can completely externalize all storage that requires a drive motor. As in, send out iMacs with no built in DVD or platter based hard drive. They should be able to leverage their buying power to put 512G SSDs in these machines.

This would in turn allow them to make the iMac thinner and reduce the weight a little, a lot of that weight is in the glass front.

They still selling the iPhone 3GS so why purchase a new one if that is good enough for Apple. The best selling smart phones are the oldest smartphones.

And do you think your sentiments reflect those of the silent majority?

Not everyone may be as strong or as willing to lug around a laptop of such weight. It may be light for you, but for many others, it is probably the equivalent of hauling a sack of bricks everywhere they go. Not to mention it is bulky; imagine squeezing into a packed bus or train with it. Plus, not that many people might require so much computing power, so for them, it is really just a white elephant.;)

Now what? Are we all gonna start a group therapy session?

Haha, this is so fun to get mad at people! :D
