Damn I was really hoping Apple would go back to 2 sizes for the iphone 5:

32gb - $199
64gb - $299

But no such luck I'm sure they are going to squeeze every little last drop out of the 16gb even if the flash nand is alot cheaper than when they first started offering at $199 4 years ago.

Yeah, 32gb at $199 and 64gb at $299 should be the deal by now. Maybe next year plus 128gb at $399.

I find it funny that people think Apple will offer the 32gb model for $199, when they can easily keep it the same and sell it for $299 (subsidized). This is the same company that's charging $10 for an adapter.

In general if feels that companies are basing these high price increases on something that just does not cost that much anymore. We can get memory for cheap so I imagine they save quite a bit more then us. Odd how that is still the main factor for prices at the lower 8GB vs 16GB vs 32GB, once you go beyond that then I can see a bit of a bump.

Why in 2012 are they still even selling iPhones with 8gb and charging through the nose for the 64gb model, when my 2004 iPod had 80gb? Stop ripping us off on Flash memory prices.

$100 difference between 16gb, 32gb, and 64gb = high margins
high margins = $100B in cash reserves

Feels like a really cheap move involving eight sixteen and thirty two with current memory prices, and not just Apple does this.

For the love of Christ, Apple please get rid of the 8GB crap. To think 16GB is small, you have got to be joking if you consider the 8GB. I was really hoping this year they would do $199 for 32GB, $299 for 64GB, and $399 for 128GB but its pretty obvious that Apple wants to take advantage of people in as many ways as possible.

In my opinion there wont be a iPhone 4S in 8GB version. 16GB will stay, because iPhone 5 will come up with 32,64 and 128 versions.

They'll keep the 8GB version so they can advertise the iPhone "from only xxxx".

My guess iPhone 4 with 8GB & iPhone 4S with 16GB.

Not sure about the iPhone 5. Wouldn't be surprised if they kept the 16/32/64 options given how stubbornly high the flash memory price is for 128GB, however I would love a 128GB version - AFAIK nobody else has that.

8GB 4S is absurd, considering that it records 1080p video.
I'd say it's about time to see a 8GB 4 - 16GB 4S - 32/64/128GB 5.

Apple would deserve massive stick if they kept the base model at 8Gb.

That would just be a crap product made to fit a price bracket.

Apple's paying I believe under a buck a gig now. The difference between the "free" model and the top model is negligible in cost-$50ish a unit v. $400 at retail. Huge ripoff.

Ripoff? Take a look at other smartphones. They cost just as much.

As I have said repeatedly, its time for Apple to up the capacities on all their iOS devices.

Its just ridiculous that they continue to offer the same capacities at the same price points year after year when I know flash prices have dropped to new lows in the last few years.

" Since you've been here a while, with more experience, I'm sure it's gotten easier for you to do your job. And since its gotten easier, iEvolution, I think you should take a pay cut. What do you say? "

I still have a 3Gs, almost 3 years now, 16Gb. Now hoping to get a new iPhone depending on the contract deals from my telco in the coming weeks, assuming they release it next week. I'm going to try for 32Gb this time :)

So by the end of the year I'll have a new iPhone and hopefully iMac!

Yeah the 3Gs can be frustrating some times to wake up and type, the next one should be much faster!

Tempted to look for something a bit newer, it is still a good phone just a little slow at times, NO contracts right now. I wonder what IOS6 will do to it.

That will have to wait, jailbroken and all.

I'm not planning to put iOS6 on the 3Gs, but will wait and see what others think. The 3Gs will be going to my mother, her first iPhone. She might need a new battery but it's mostly been a trouble free phone for me. I've had the occasional crash, maybe 5 in it's life. And sometimes the battery has run down too quick but right now lasts about 2 days with lite use.

Yes I appreciate that, but that was 8 years ago. Don't tell me a Flash drive now costs more to produce than the equivalent size custom iPod sized HD did 8 years ago.

Apple didn't have a 80gb iPod 8 years ago.. And the price of an iPhone is not fully based on storage capacity.
