Damn I was really hoping Apple would go back to 2 sizes for the iphone 5:

32gb - $199
64gb - $299

But no such luck I'm sure they are going to squeeze every little last drop out of the 16gb even if the flash nand is alot cheaper than when they first started offering at $199 4 years ago.

Apple's paying I believe under a buck a gig now. The difference between the "free" model and the top model is negligible in cost-$50ish a unit v. $400 at retail. Huge ripoff.

Producers should and do charge what consumers are willing to pay. If you were out selling your services (looking for a job), would you accept the first offer that just covered your monthly expenses, or would you continue to look and work for someone that would pay as much as you could get? Same difference.

Consumers have clearly shown Apple that they are willing to pay what they charge. If you're not willing to pay the price of admission, buy elsewhere or don't participate.

Apple is not gonna release iPhone 5 32GB for $199. But hasn't flash storage gone down yet in price after 3 years plus? I mean 32GB eventually has to be the norm to what 16GB is now. I hope for Apple to release iPhone 5 32GB for $199 but it's a long shot

I'll keep my unlocked iPhone 3GS.
I have no plans to upgrade.
I suppose I might downgrade to a Nokia some day, but for now I'm happy.

Wonder what the pricing of the 64-gig will be? I am going to get the most memory I can. I'm so sick of running out of space on my 16gig 4s. worst mistake was to return the 32 and get the 16. facepalm.

In my opinion there wont be a iPhone 4S in 8GB version. 16GB will stay, because iPhone 5 will come up with 32,64 and 128 versions.

This might explain why they were "out of 3GS's and don't know when we're getting more" yesterday at the Apple store. They replaced my sister's iPhone 3GS with an iPhone 4.

My money is on Apple keeping the 3Gs around as a $199 no contract device. Will be huge in India and other markets that love them some pre pay devices.

It seems to make much more sense to eliminate the 4 along with the 3GS. The 4 requires two separate lines to produce (one for GSM one for CDMA). Apple could streamline the who production, and likely save money in the long run, but simply lowering the 4S to ~$99, with maybe an 8GB 4S going for $0, and a 16GB for $99.

With T-Mobile upgrading towers in the US to support 1900 Mhz this would be perfect for a low cost iPhone solution.

Apple's strategy is very clear and very smart.

3 devices, addressing all price points, 3 year major software support per device, no complaints from customers. No other company comes even close to this type of a support.

When iPhone 6 or 5S or basically the one after 5 comes out, they'll probably boost the storage to 128GB, and the lowest iPhone(4S) will be 16GB, that'll address the complaints of 8GB not being enough for 1080p video recording.

You are right. Currently Aircel is providing iPhone 3GS 8GB with their bundled plan (but phone not locked) for around 14000 Rupees (approx 251$).

i'm happy because the iPhone is the last product in apples product line categories where i don't have a product>

Computer: Check
Tablet Computer: Check
Portable Music Player: Check
TV Box: Check

Phone!!

i'm happy to buy an iPhone 4, but iv been waiting for iPhone 5 so its value and price drops even more affordably.

i hope there is a quick impact on ebay prices.

Any 8GB device is a little ridiculous these days with such cheap memory, comes off as an excuse to over charge for more memory and yes this goes for just about every company out there that is doing this.

I'll keep my unlocked iPhone 3GS.

It is still a good phone, almost had mine for three years, I like the cheaper monthly plan for unlimited everything, half as much for twice the service, cannot beat that.

Interesting numbers, but what would be the unlocked prices?

4 8GB - $350
4s 8GB - $450
4s 16GB - $550
5 16GB -$650

Any ideas?

iPhone 4 8 GB - $375
iPhone 4S 8GB - $549
iPhone 5 16GB - $649

Apple will not reduce even dollar ... same as current price structure...

again if you look around second market, you might score a good iPhone 4S 16GB at $350 range

*cries*

Someone has to pretend they care.

I agree. I mean, I'm seriously thinking about buying this iPhone because of LTE, but at the same time, I'm horribly disappointed that its 1. Thinner without purpose instead of having better battery life, 2. No NFC 3. Longer, when my fat fingers have trouble typing normally 4. Why isn't it 720p exactly? Oh wait, that would require a minor widening...

Truthfully, if they don't reduce the price of the flash ram, the only reason to upgrade would be to watch widescreen movies (as if that were needed) and LTE. And continue marveling at the far superior screens Android manufacturers are using. I mean, I get that the 3.5 inchers have their supporters. But the SIII seems to be a better all around phone based on the rumors and I find it hard that Apple will top it from a technological perspective. And the cold reality has been since the iPhone 4S-which I own, mind you-Apple has been lagging on hardware big time.
