What they really need is better youtube integration. I want to see new videos from my subscriptions in the notification center, geez Apple get it right.

Yeah I know, wouldn't it be awesome if cydia were built into every iOS 7 device? Then they wouldn't have to do anything cause it's all been done already by the jailbreak devs.

YouTube integration would actually be quite good, now that I consider it. The problem with integration services is that it all has to originate from Apple; that is, third-party services just can't add their own integrative services into iOS due to the restrictions on what can be done by an app in iOS. If Apple somehow implemented a system for supporting integration of third-party services (created by the third-parties involved)—such as through an approval process similar to that of normal apps—we would be seeing integration of things such as YouTube and Google+…

Cydia built into iOS, on the other hand, would be a terrible idea in my opinion. Many Cydia apps cause the system to crash or restart or slow down greatly. Apple would be getting many complaints from users who don't know what's going on. :p

Only thing Vimeo has over YouTube is that it is not blocked in my school <.<

Is ca.youtube.com blocked? I remember that that was the easy way to get around it. Or you go all-out and use your home computer as a proxy :D

Google's YouTube app could do just that under the current rules if it wanted to. It's just simple push notification. But in other ways, I'd like more YouTube and Dropbox integration, and it would be great to have a way to disable options for stuff I don't use (Twitter and FaceBook).

Wow, I could just imagine most people I know using that and totally screwing up their devices. The 6-icon dock is a trap...

Your wise counsel has changed my mind.

vimeo, flicker & all yahoo services should be built into iOS.

Haha, for real. Why Apple can't design a modern OS that let's user decide which social apps they want to use. But instead of doing that, they bake networks in based on their hate of Google. Not exactly a win for the consumer.

Nah, I use https:// when on the school's computers and when I am using the iPad they issue to each student I just enter their profile password (it was easy to get) and download Puffin and watch it the way easy way.

Back on topic: For iOS 'integration' I want it to be an option in settings, I dislike seeing the crap all around when I do not use it at all on any of my Apple-made devices.

Apple letting their users decide? You sir must be joking :D

Your life must be so hard.

Lol, no reason to be a dick. My life is as hard as the average American, I suppose... I'm a single dad, doing the best I can. At any rate, with regards to my comment on additional photo options.. Currently, on my iPhone 5- when a photo is selected to send, a 3x3 icon grid appears. The choices are top row- mail, message, photo stream.. middle row- twitter, Facebook, assign to contact.. bottom row- print, copy, use as wallpaper.
If two more choices (Flickr & Vimeo) get added to this list as rumored, it will indeed become more cluttered, as either a new row will need to be added, or they'll need to switch to four per row, instead of three.
Now, if you recall- my solution was to let the USER choose which ones they wanted.. so for example if I wanted Flickr & Vimeo, but did NOT want Twitter & Facebook as default "send to" options, I could still have the same clean 3x3 grid.
This could easily be built into a page of the initial iPhone set-up, like when it asks you if you want to use iCloud & to put in your Apple ID and whatnot.. there could be a page- which of these services do you use most? With a list as long as they like... Just my two cents! I guess we'll see soon enough. :0)

If Dropbox already has "open with" on Android why not iOS.

I have the flicker app as of yesterday & integration is great on Android.
Why waste resources adding to core OS when many won't use it?

It does. Get the Dropbox app and install it before commenting maybe? I have the app and integration does everything I need. I can send files to Dropbox and open attachments/files with it.

My iPhone will do even more pointless and useless junk that I will never, ever use...

I'm still amazed that Apple wants to offer Flickr integration even though there is a perfectly suitable dedicated app available, yet they think public transit should be left to 'third party apps'... This makes no sense at all.

All I can say about this is: No Google+? If Google+ was integrated, it could gain users pretty quickly. I can see one reason why Apple wouldn't put in Google+ integration, given the Apple-Google relationship…

*******************************************************************
Much like many other people on this thread, I will say this: I hope this is not the "innovation" that Apple will have in iOS 7. What's going on? Apple could take ideas from the jailbreak community (or even better yet, hire the developers from the JB community) to improve iOS. It's just a thought. :)
Oh come on, it's a simple service integration, why the heck do you need to associate this with 'innovation'?

Really, the unneccesary use of 'innovation' bothers me a lot.

The share screen can have multiple pages. Though I don't think adding a couple of new options makes for cluttered. The icons are large and easily discernable. I don't think many people would have increased confusion by new icons. But as I said, it can have multiple pages and keep the 3x3 grid.

Why doesn't Apple just create a services API that allows any service to create a deeper integration with iDevices. This way Apple's not responsible for integrating such services, the services are.

You can end up with some specific product implementations being less robust than others, which can cause issues for the end user. Even the possibility of "core functionality" like saving a picture or video failing because of poor coding or implementation by a third-party could negatively impact the user experience.

I read an article in the late 90's or early 2000's that said the majority of blue-screen failures under Windows were caused by third-part DLL's that MS didn't write. Not a position Apple would want to place themselves in so let the individual vendors create their own app's and the ones that can innovate visually and deliver a robust app will benefit in the marketplace.

One thing I'd like to see changed is the icons for Twitter and Facebook NOT being displayed in the Save As dialog for those of us who choose not to have accounts with those services. Shouldn't be too difficult to not display them when the user hasn't entered account credentials for them.

Why don't they just open up some kind of plugin system for this and be done with it? While I understand people want more social integration (personally I don't care) it just seems like Apple shouldn't be the one adding it, given that there are a wealth of competing services out there. Just open some plugin folders that apps can install components into (with permissions) and let them sort themselves out.

This would be pretty cool, they could manage it with certs so that they could still get $ to set up such a partnership.

I'd like the option that if I'm not logged into twitter, or facebook on my iPhone for those sharing options NOT to be part of the default sharing screen. I mean after all I'm not logged in right? Or maybe allow the settings screen to let me turn it off.

I get people want to share more over the internet on the social site of their choosing, but I like my device to be clutter free. :(

Isn't that already possible? all Google has to do is setup notifications for the youtube app.

I DON'T NEED or WANT ANY SOCIAL NETWORK INTEGRATION.period

-1

You don't want any social network integration: Turn them off. Or don't install them. They aren't forcing you to use it, it's an option. Like it or not, many people will have good use for this integration. Like myself. I upload a lot of my landscape photography on Flickr. This wi make it that much easier.

To those that say just don't use it

You are right, just don't use it. And I do not use it. I also do not use Safari, Newstand, Reminders, and Maps. I do use Google Maps, Chrome, et al.

I would like them to put their energies in making the OS better from a usability stand point. Better from an integration with third-party app stand point.

I would like them not to prioritize these types of changes over social media integration.

Can you save photos and attachments to your iPhone or iPad?

I can on my phone and tablet.

This way if another app doesn't support Dropbox I can just pull it from my Docs Folder or my Photos folder.

Seems like such an easy solution that Apple won't implement. But Apple knows what's best for their users. They tell you in every Advertisement.

Don't think I've ever seen that ad. Can you post a link to it? It's probably on YouTube. The one where they say "we know what's best for our users" thanks.

Quote from Steve Jobs

“people don't know what they want until you show it to them.”

I know what I want before Apple tells me. That quote is insulting to an informed consumer.
