Quote from Steve Jobs

“people don't know what they want until you show it to them.”

I know what I want before Apple tells me. That quote is insulting to an informed consumer.

So there is no ad? And you're just spreading FUD? got it.

No. That's a direct quote. Google it.

It may have worked when they had no competition but they are quickly losing market share. They may be gaining new customers in the US but they are not gaining as much as competitors.

If Apple proves to me that they have a product I want, I'll consider it.
I don't just throw my money at the next upgrade because Apple knows what I want.

I'm more than qualified to determine what I want and Apple doesn't have it anymore.

Your direct quote was that they tell you that in every advertisement.

No. They do not. They've never said it in any advertisement. So you're either a) lying or b) spreading fud. Which one is it?

I don't care about all this social app integrating crap. I just want to choose my default programs. Is that too hard to ask? And how about some customizable options apple that doesn't involve me having to jailbreak my iPhone.

Give us some god darn live wallpapers for heavens sake.

That's all I want.

Why doesn't Apple just create a services API that allows any service to create a deeper integration with iDevices. This way Apple's not responsible for integrating such services, the services are.

Because Apple doesn't want any service integrating with the OS.

I know what I want before Apple tells me. That quote is insulting to an informed consumer.

As an informed consumer who is insulted, maybe you should get the quote right. Jobs said, "It's really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them."
-- BusinessWeek, May 25 1998

You are like the Department of Justice, cherry picking the part of the quote that sends the message you want. However, in context, the quote doesn't quite mean the same thing you suggest.

The share screen can have multiple pages. Though I don't think adding a couple of new options makes for cluttered. The icons are large and easily discernable. I don't think many people would have increased confusion by new icons. But as I said, it can have multiple pages and keep the 3x3 grid.

I can't see it happening. Jony is trying to make it look even cleaner... & already Apple has the reputation of having the one smartphone simple & intuitive enough that even your Gran can figure it out.. I can't see them having you scroll through pages of options every time you want to send a pic... and I can't imagine any consumer enjoying that experience.

See my previous quote. By the way, I used Bing. Maybe your blind reliance on Google is why you only got part of the quote.

People say they know what they want all the time. Then sometimes somebody shows them something better that they didn't even know existed. That was the message Jobs was saying. Most people are not privy to technological advancements and what can be done with this things.

Just stop trying. You said one thing and now you're moving goal posts. Welcome to my ignore list, you're joining some similar minded people

Omg, excellent idea! Lol, I didn't even realize we had ignore lists.. that same troll that you were responding to just made me do that as well. Ugh, what sad little bitter people.. it's ugly static in my head. Anyways, thank you again for the idea. :0)

What has Apple shown you in the last 6 months?

What has Samsung, Microsoft, Google, HTC shown consumers. A boat load of products that give the consumers "Choice" in purchasing the product they want.

I want to Choose what screen size is right for me. I don't need Apple to tell me my hands are too small to use my phone with one hand.

I know how to hold a phone. I don't need Apple to tell me.

When/If Apple shows any type on evolution (which isn't catching up) or innovative new products I'll consider them if they allow API integration and let me control how I want my OS to look on my phone.

LOL...gotta love Korean Students.

If someone is not paying you to post...then you have serious issues.

Why would a "South Korean" student mention Microsoft?

You do realize they are to different countries.

Wow, you just proved you are not a Korean student...because you mentioned Microsoft. My bad.

LOL

So, I guess you have serious issues. Don't forget to take your meds.

I'm on a business trip and forgot my Kool-Aid. I'll be better when I return home to my iHome.

No one is forcing you to use it

Apple will most likely force me to install it while upgrading, so there will be more and more traces within the UI (share, like, tweet and the likes).
Either way, IMHO it's a sad waist of resources - developers should spend their valuable time building at least some features for professional users instead.

All that is nice, but how does that address your quote, which was obviously taken way out of context.

Moreover, Apple has always been about choice. You can choose to buy superior hardware running a superior OS by buying Apple products, or you can buy choose to make cheap crap produced by imitators.

And support for MySpace and Hi5 on iOS 8.

And for iOS 9, Deep integration for WhatsApp which will let you make free phone calls via Wi-Fi.

How about a banner notification for low battery instead of an alert and social crap?

I guess one can safely claim Apple's hardware as being superior. But the topic at hand here being software, throwing more social networking stuff straight into the OS is the opposite of superior - if you ask me. It's more like trying to make easy money.
I for one will raise the bar for my future (i)OS.

Vimeo has better video quality, so that's cool. I would really like to see more video content on it, though. That's really the main thing, everything is always on YouTube.

If you want to see students igniting their farts, youtube is the way to go. If you want to see more concerted attempts at film making, vimeo is better.

Digging yourself a hole mate.

Figure of speech. Ever heard of it?

Thanks for proving my original point even further.

Anyone who sees that iOS 7 will have Vimeo integration and immediately jumps to the conclusion that it will be a disaster of an OS is clearly either trolling or an idiot.

So, which one are you?

You can Edit and upload vids to Vimeo with Final Cut X right now. Vimeo is great for sharing with selected friends due to password protection options. Quality and speed is top notch, if you choose the paid subscription plan.

You're totally misinterpreting the quote. Unless you think being an informed customers is the same as being a visionary who can design something (software or hardware) that will be one of those few products that "people" buy.

You know the whole "why didn't I think of that"-feeling? Yeah. That's what he's talking about. If you never have it, you should be the richest member on MacRumors. Otherwise you're wasting your unique talent. Either way, not all informed customers are capable of what you're saying.
