The iPad does not remotely have the necessary compute power to make that fly in any meaningful way.

If they show off Xcode on an iPad, THAT would be a game changer -- because then the iPad would finally become a self-hosting platform. And Apple could stop developing and selling Macs altogether.
Have to disagree, the iPad is plenty powerful to run final cut.
One of the fastest processors in the business, faster than some MacBook pros? With 4 or 6 gb of ram? Up to 1 TB of storage. Super high res display. What is stopping it.
People can use final cut with out a maxed out Mac Pro. I know people who used the 12 inch MacBook for Final cut.

Where are the AirTags? The batteries in my over-year-old Tiles are due for a Re-Tile, and I’ve been waiting to replace them until I see what Apple comes out with. C’mon already.

(I use them attached to my  TV remotes)

Well, if you think about it, "AirTags" might be shown at this event. Maybe it will be possible to somehow use them as an interaction device with some games / apps, not only as a location device. AirTags from a hardware perspective is not really something interesting, 99% is about software and interaction with iOS devices. But they will most likely show them at WWDC 2020.

I guess:

March Event: iPad Pro, iPhone 9 (SE2), smaller MBP with "the new" keyboard etc., maybe new iMacs, maybe updated MBA with the new keyboard = I think they are gonna get rid of that butterfly keyboard ASAP.
WWDC: AirTags, ARM Macbook = or a preview of ARM MacOS, devices coming later 2020.
Fall: iPhones, Watch...

Why develop an App? If it wont work on Apple hardware in a few years? I miss those early iOS games now gone forever! I still have a stack of 32-bit game ports for MacOS that no longer work.

At least with windows there is hope you can play something older than 5 years.

I know this is supposedly aimed at software, particularly apps only, I hope we get a little product launch to fill the stockings.

Namely: AirTags. That’d be great.

Expecting planet of the apps season 2-10 release dates
Good luck with that, it was canceled the same day Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht were hired.

But of course people always want what they can’t have

PS This event is for apps and games, it has nothing to do with video content or Apple TV+ at all.

That would be a WWDC announcement 100%.

A developer conference to announce a video software? I wouldn’t think so. They can pull off a special event for that particular crowd anytime they see fit on their own premises now.

Software is software.

Ehh, you've got to turn that one around. Going from 32-bit to 64-bit only was necessary, and we won't have compatibility problems like these anymore until it's time to move to 128-bit. Small hint: It will be a long time until that need arises. But yes, Windows is truly a legacy king.

Told Cook yesterday the most important thing that could come out of Apple's Dec 2nd event, is finding out how much Coin was made by apps that Apple recommended, vs apps that Apple NEVER recommended.

That will tell us ALL just how "curated" it is.
