It's about time that Apple came back to it's roots a little and refreshed what made the company a success in the firstplace.....the beautiful design of their hardware and software. Here is my prediction :

Software :

- Steve as always will do an update on iPhone, iPad, iOS, OS X, ATV etc
- Introduction of OS X 10.7 Lion with support for multi-touch
- iLife 11 debut (mystery app, 64 bit code base etc)
- iWork update?

Hardware :

- New Multi-Touch iMac
- MacBook Air update/refresh

That's all I can think of, may be well off the mark (as looking back on it, it kinda looks like a personal wish list!)

I'm so sick of hearing about Macs. Whe are Apple going to look after their core iOS fanbase? My iPad is still stuck on ios 3 and you're rolling out more products. They should just get ios right before thinking out more bloated "desktop" oses.

As for the MacBook Air, does anyone still buy those dinosaurs? We want faster, sleeker ipads with retina displays please.

Some may argue that it was your own fault for buying the 1st gen ipad! You are getting a software update in November so stop your jibber-jabbin'!

Give OS X and Mac a little air time!

I hope you're being sarcastic. Having a seeming hate for the OS that is the foundation of iOS would be idiotic on the level of Dubya/Obama-esque proportions.

Gold.

Love it. :D

based on timing of the announcement. i think 10.7 will be out this month. maybe im wrong but 10.5 was announced in october and shipped 10 days after.

I think you're thinking about them announcing the actual shipping date for the last time, 10 days sounds about right for 10.5. However the OS itself was announced June 26, 2006 and shipped on October 26 the next year. So there is no way that anything more than a beta for developers will be out this month.

I am surprised that nobody has made the link between "Back to the Mac" and "Back to my Mac", a service that was never very well implemented, and would benefit greatly from the new data center as opposed to climbing over one's own home or office firewall.

Lion + Data Center + Mobile Me subscription = My Mac Anywhere Anytime? Maybe even from iOS devices to a more limited degree.

That would explain looking through Apple to your OS.

ROTFL.

Best post I've read this morning!

( I'm assuming this person is joking ).

Wow this news must have come out when I was in some sort of food coma. Really happy to see some attention and Love being directed at the Mac platform for a change!

a) Why would Steve kick-off with annoucements about the iOS product line when it's a "Back to the Mac" event? Not sure that'd go down well.

b) How much does an iMac-sized touch screen set you back these days?

c) The reason iOS is branched from Mac OS X is because one is a touch interface and the other is a mouse interface. How to get both?

d) Do people seriously use iWork?

I'm with you on the iLife update though....
