This is the best bit of Apple news that I've heard for a long time. Not a big fan of Finder. I hope it gets an overhaul in 'Lion'. Also, new iWork and iLife would be most welcome if that is indeed what also comes to pass.

Does everyone use the term "iLife" interchangeably with "iPhoto", or do people actually use the other iLife apps? :p

It's always worth checking the Buyer's Guide before making a big purchase.

I did!
U think they will let me return it? :p haha!
Got a feeling its only going to be a small upgrade tho :)
I would like to see a new MacBook Air and perhaps a new OS version!
An 8 Core or higher iMac would be cool.....But that prob wont happen for a good while!

I use iMovie and just started garageband. Certainly, iPhoto is the easiest and least-involved application to require a use, but I certainly dabble in others. Not on a regular basis, though.

I hope iDVD features get built into iMovie.

Apart from using iPhoto, which gets the heaviest use, I use GarageBand quite a lot and might branch out into iMovie eventually if I get organised enough.

For anybody who toiled away on an old tape-based four track in their youth, GarageBand is the dream we all barely dared to dream.

Lion

The term "Lion" would be so much easier to convey instead of "OS X Snow Leopard". Just say "Mac Lion" and non Apple/Tech/Computer would have an easier time understanding what you're trying to refer to! :)

This is great news.

I was having a talk with a mate a while ago about how I felt OS X Snow Leopard was beginning to feel a little dated. When you think that Snow Leopard was really just a service pack for Leopard which will be exactly 3 years old on the 24/10/10 it's about time really. This will probably take just over a year so 4 years off of essentially one OS is nearly as bad as Windows with XP.

There seems to be a lot of interest in a new iWeb (something I use). iWeb really got nothing new in the last iLife update but the rumor mill says it's getting a total remake.

I also use iMovie and iDVD for family stuff, friends' weddings and the like.

If Apple doesn't switch from OS X 10.7 to OS X 11 then I believe OS X 10.8 will be named Liger.

A Tiger and A Lion together makes a Liger.

I can just see that name happening in the world of OS X. It just sounds right for the next name after Lion.

I'm really looking forward to the event to see the UI changes. OS X needs a few UI changes to give it a new look for once.

Of course theres going to be customization which is nice to have.

Just have to wait and see.

Hopefully Apple will do the live streaming again.

Oh yeah, people want a 1.33 Ghz processor, 256 Mb Ram, and a 60 GB harddrive
Edit: it did have 2 USB ports though!

I have a MacBook Air which i sold to a friend after 4 months, Got returned and swapped my Pro for it, i didn't like The MacBook Pro either, hated the rough sharp cornered aluminium and the Clicky hard to press trackpad,

So long aqua scrollbars. I really really like them. Too bad that Master Steve said no more blue.

i hate the Fact that Steve Jobs recently has been a hypocrite about everything. saying that everything is fine with the iPhone 4, but they are not. I really do not hope that the new MacBook's coming next week will be as bad as the current ones.

So picky aren't you. You sold the Macbook Air just after 4 month of owning it, then the macbook pro was not ideal in comfort for you and for the trackpad, you don't have to press down, go into settings and have it where you just tap on the trackpad to click rather than physically clicking. Like what you would do on a touchscreen.

I'm actually done with them and looking forward for the scrollbar to look like the ones on the iPad/iPhone.

I never use the arrow keys on the scrollbar nor click on the bar to scroll. I just use the mouse to do so and so does many people.

i didnt like that feature either. i loved the performance of the Pro, i was also very upset with the Reliability of the Pro, my hard drive broke on it after 5 months and then a key cap came of which cost me £400 to get replaced. it also didnt start one morning for some reason

Apple own the the trademark to Lynx as well as Lion, but I'm not sure how that would work in the UK (Axe body spray is called Lynx in the UK)

Trademarks apply to a specific market sector, it's unlikely that there would be a problem with a body spray and an operating system.
