T-Minus 45 Days & Counting • Final Cut Studio 6 • 8 Core Mac Pro • Super FCS

Glad we have a press event this year. This portends a more significant set of announcements than just another mobile Mac refresh. I think if the Dual Clovertown Mac Pro is not announced sooner, this will likely be the venu for its premiere along with Final Cut Studio 6 and the Extreme version of FCS for Movie and Television production houses.

Would love to have HD DVD options that include a universal drive that can read and write all formats. I think Samsung has one in the works don't they?

So now we have a T-Minus 45 Days and Counting timeframe - Finally.

Can anyone make a widget for this? :p

Woooooot!!!

I can't wait to be there! Vegas baby! NAB! Hopefully... it all comes together!

WOOOOT!!!

heheh... :D

I can't comment too much, as I am an Apple VAR/systems integrator specializing in the video & audio realms... But my hopes are up (not based on any inside information).

I don't think it's out of line to state my personal wish-list (based in reality):

FCStudio 2

Logic 8

Octo-Mac

Also, maybe?

Info on acquisition of Silicon Color/Final Touch

Info on acquisition of Proximity Group/Artbox

Info on future of Shake

Could it all mean... FINAL CUT EXTREEEEEEME!?!?!?!? (Or whatever)

And?

10.5/new Quicktime/Core Animation/collaboration via 10.5 server

RED camera support

Blu-ray (and/or HD-DVD?)

Displays

RAIDs

Xsan

I believe there's a strong chance of MacPro coming at NAB with new enclosures. BUT:

do we need to have Leopard here to take full advantage of the multi-core processors?
So that would mean Leopard is either coming before NAB or they will announce MacPro with shipping dates for after Leopard.

Another thing to look is if Adobe is going to release CS3 prior or during NAB.

Is very interesting. If not at NAB for sure at WWDC MacPro octo will be here.

Another thing to consider is MacBook Pro announcement at NAB without the need of Leopard. Then later at WWDC MacPro.

Cinema displays will come alongside MacPro and I am pretty positive with new enclosures.

Very exciting, time to save $ and look forward to put my G5 Quad on eBay.;)

There Was No Press Event At NAB '06 Lethal

Not quite sure what you mean as Apple has had a "pre-NAB" presser for a number of years now.
I know. But not last year Lethal. They simply opened the booth Monday morning and threw out a press release to say we give you a 17" CD MacBook Pro with a FW800 port back from the missing FW800 in the 15" CD MBP we dumped onto the market in February without one. Oh and by the way, here's your Universal Binary FCS 5.1. Whoot!  :)

Hitachi released a set-top universal drive at CES so a universal read/write can't be far behind

Apple doesn't exist for the sole purpose of pleasing you and just you my friend.. It's a pro conference, they will not be releasing consumer equipment. And yes, I don't consider such a small MBP to be anything they will advertise running FCP or Aperture on.

Apple would be pleasing me and at least one other person I know too.

Personally I'm hoping for:
Mac Pro Octo, maybe with case redesign (not fussed on that),ATI R600 graphics, blueray/HDDVD BTO and hardware RAID would be nice.
Leopard.
New displays, pref LED backlighting.
It's not Apple but CS3 would be nice as well, that way I can hammer my credit card all at once and be done with it for a while. I'm just hoping the breakdown of software in the various CS3 packages now that Macromedia is on board are good. I need to buy Photoshop, Illustrator & Indesign and would like to get Flex, Flash & Acrobat.

My new expectation formula for events and keynotes. Add all expected products from MR up, take 1o% of that.

Of course the BluRay drive will be a BTO option. The superdrive was when it first came out, so I don't see this being any different.

Although I don't think they will have a HD-DVD drive as an option because it is pretty clear now that BluRay will win. BluRay currently has the most players in the market, they seem to be getting the most movies now and they have sorted out all the IQ problems they had in the past because of using MPEG2.

Plus seeing as BluRay will be the only format you can get Star Wars HD on, HD-DVD just doesn't stand a chance.

For these speculated products to be shown at NAB Leopard must be shown either before or at the same time.

Looks like we're going to get another "special event" prior to this one.

This is the real elephant in the bushes: The logic of all the rumors hinges on Leopard, and the Leopard rumors are still far from clear. I would GUESS that Leopard would come first, as it's big enough for its own press, but it could come at the same time...and it's really unlikely to come afterwards, cuz the new toys at NAB will count on it to be at their most impressive.

And let's repeat this again: It's the
National Association of B R O A D C A S T E R S
exhibit.

If any, only pro hardware will get introduced.

Once upon a time there was an event called MACWorld, where not a single MAC-related product was released. AS IF Apple has been so rigid and predictable as to justify the tone of your post. Please.

My exact thoughts (and no doubt many of you). Jobs will present Leopard himself for sure yet they need it in time for NAB one has to think and he won't do it there, it's not his MO. That seems to point to a 'Steve Special' prior to NAB.

I am with you 100% (don't forget FCPro X) - pick me one up too while you are at it please :)

i haven't read all posts but im surprised no one said powerbook G5.

i think new Cinema Display might be on the way considering they just lowered the refurbish price of them.

True, but the iPhone is a consumer device and MWSF mostly is based on consumer needs.
NAB in other hand is a professional event. It doesn't make sense bring a consumer level product to such a place. (Final Cut xpress is a prosumer product)
If you are expecting that, then I am sorry to say you'll be disappoint.

NAB will focus on products for film/video professionals, so is very easy to predict Final Cut Studio apps, maybe Mac Pro's, Cinema Displays, etc.
