I'd be worried if apple did this to their own apps..I do not see this as a genuine disservice to its customers if apple allows developers to use this feature. Its the developer that has to decide his/her best cost-model..

1) Apple is not Google.
2) Google is an advertising company.

Therefore Apple is not an advertising company and should KNOCK THIS CRAP OFF!! I buy Apple so that I DO NOT GET ADVERTISED AT! Apple, see the above video, it is correct!

My iPad has no applications on it that include advertising. If I am left with no choice to avoid advertising, my only choice left will be to stop buying software, and stop using Apple devices.

Linux looks neat...
Agreed. Apple and Ads do not mix. Generally, free apps with ads will not be installed on any of my devices, and paid apps that run ads will be uninstalled.

Next Siri will probably do iAds.

Would make a change for Siri to do anything quite frankly. I usually just get a "really sorry but not available" error message, or an attempted solution that requires so much manual attention as to be worthless.

I will not only boycott any app that does this, I will also boycott any company that I see advertising in this way.

If I'm bombarded by iAds every time I open/use a paid program, I'll quit the Internet and find a parallel, commercial free, alternative.

It's the developers that put the ads in their apps. Just be willing to pay for ad free apps and it will not be an issue.

If a program I paid for contained ads, I would delete the app and get a refund. Ads are a way for the developer to make money selling a free app.

I will avoid any app that implements these video ads at all costs. I hate forced ads. I'd rather just skip the app altogether.

I'd rather have these if it developers would remove banner ads. They'll probably do both though.:(

Oh no! :( I can already see how this is going to be abused by developers.

Only if the app is free to me, and the app provides me with useful content, then I might be OK with the developers throwing occasional ads in my face.

But if I paid good money for that f@#*%^n app, then you better not be annoying me with those stupid ads! I will request a refund and delete the app.

Apple is nomore Apple that was with Steve Jobs! Tim Cook is going to comercialize everything... Sad..

The whole internet went to **** when ads became highly used. And now, everything that can connect to the internet is being infected with this crap. Every site is full with annoying **** that's shoved down your throat.

I'm SO glad adblock exists, though buggy on Safari. It's not blocking youtube ads, I wonder if Apple had anything to do that. And now there is adblock plus for Safari, but that's blocking the comments section by a bug...

Hope adblock for iOS will be able to fight this. (jailbroken off course)

I simply don't use ad based apps. If I download an app and discover it is going to annoy me with ads I delete it. It's that simple. This means they have no audience here. Everyone can do that. This whole ad thing is a flash in the pan. It's not going to last.

Oh no! Less battery life.. more data usage and to top it all the frustration of having to watch those ads.....

Sorry.. will boycott all such apps!

Not a problem here because I use only a few free apps and a majority of paid ones.

iAds are not bad though. I wish more developers would use it instead of the other ones as I actually enjoy looking and interacting with them. Most of the time, I check out the apps featured in them too.

I bet the video ads are going to be great too.

I can't stand ads in apps, although I can certainly understand them.

I'm just glad it won't be like Facebook ads, where each one is either for some illegal knock-off stuff, or for some illegal steroid-type scams.

All the more reason to avoid updating your stuff until you see how things play out. :D

What a boring way to kill iOS. Everyone kills off products by over levering. I mean if Tim Cook wants to kill iOS why not do it more dramtically like Will It Blend.

Seriously, if anyone thinks this will be limited to "free" apps think again. You pay for ESPN and it's ad free too right? This is just the beginning of iClutter. Not to worry though. I'm sure parallel Android apps will become just as ad laden and annoying.

As stated by 3 or 4 others before you…. the smart users will simply turn to (paid) ad-free apps. It will continue to be a smart and valid option for many.

And trust me, there WILL be devs that will use that as a selling point! "Hey look! Our app is newer. Sure we only have a few users now, but give us a try! Plus, did we mention that our app is TOTALLY ad-free? Our rival spams your face with ads. For a mere $1.99, our app has ZERO ads! Give us a try!"

No. reviewers will warn about ads and the developers will not even be able to give away their apps. I would delete an app the first time an ad showed itself.

This is actually a business opportunity for anyone wanting to set up a proxy server for IOS. Your server would strip adds from whatever goes to the phone just like the ad blockers do on a web browser.

THIS needs to by organized and promoted somehow. Go after the people who are paying for the ads. Some kind of social media where companies get rated and blacklisted. If it caught on NO ONE would want to be on that list.
