Oh I thought only google targeted ads at its users??

Just like Apple isn't doing anything with your user data.

Riiiiight.

Seriously

Does anybody ever watch these ads, and does it have any serious impact on buying habits. I think my brain ignores ads completely - just registers when sees something new, and then ignores it when sees it again. Ads are the brain pollution of the earth. It drains money from manufacturers and increases the price of the product 2x.. It should be banned on UN level.

Oh no! :( I can already see how this is going to be abused by developers.

Likely. But developers who turn to ads have most likely been abused by their own consumers through warez. If people didn't suck so much then shareware would still be the way forward for any indie developer.

Ads are nothing but fools gold stripping funds away from retailers for the benefit of the marketers.

Here is some research you will never see because most research designed by marketers is designed to be self-fulfilling. Couldn't have anything that would challenge their business model. Consider the hypothesis - Are people actually motivated to buy from the ads - I know I am not. Looking at the Super Bowl ads...not even the first one, including Budweiser (prefer craft beers)! And a Nissan that jumps on top of trains and off again to get around traffic - not even in my top 10 of vehicle brands to buy/consider.

In reality, it is nothing more than marketing industry profits based on self serving research at the expense of businesses that we all ultimately pay for with higher prices. Business schools could rock the industry with research that exposes the flaw, but that won't happen as marketing is a sub-specialty within business schools as they turn out more marketing 'specialitist.'

Aww... I don't want to see a whole video of Clash of Clans for 20+ times every single day...

In fact, Apple should put Supercell to halt their mass of ad repetition.

Swell. If I wanted my mobile experience to be all about marketing, I would by an Android phone.

You cheap-skates who REFUSE to pay any money for apps can be blamed for this. Yup, $3 bucks is an outrageous amount to pay for a great app or game. Right.

So, in comes the freemium model which IMO has almost ruined gaming on iDevices. Ya know - ya'll would rather have to spend $10 bucks or more on rubies and/or power ups to play the whole game versus $3 or $4 bucks right off the bat. Well, enjoy this new paradigm you've created. Nice job.

Its "free, free, free" or else. The ads are simply there to support the cost of creating the app.

I for one dont mind paying for a good app and Id much rather pay upfront and get the whole game right away. Whatever.

Wait, so according to the comments, Apple taking something that developers are already doing and making it a better experience for users is a BAD THING? Now I know that people just like to complain about everything.

This is not the iOS 8 innovation I was looking for -_-

Yes because there's only one team working on iOS 8, right?

Awesome post and I toally agree. never ONCE has an ad on TV, radio, or anywhere else ever compelled me to buy anything. Ever.

Its comical and it certainly does support an industry that probably should have folded up years ago. What a joke.

As stated by 3 or 4 others before you…. the smart users will simply turn to (paid) ad-free apps. It will continue to be a smart and valid option for many.

And trust me, there WILL be devs that will use that as a selling point! "Hey look! Our app is newer. Sure we only have a few users now, but give us a try! Plus, did we mention that our app is TOTALLY ad-free? Our rival spams your face with ads. For a mere $1.99, our app has ZERO ads! Give us a try!"

You didn't read my complete post. Go back and read it and then edit your post above for accuracy. Thanks and have a good day.

They are turning the internet into tv by taking all that is good about the internet and destroying it by forcing it to become like tv. iDiots

FAAAAKKKKKK, this sucks. Between iads and iap I've rarely every download apps anymore, prefering to stick to the ones which just charge me a one time fee forever.
