Any app that sticks a full screen video in my face will be deleted right off the device so fast...And I'll send a message to the app developers.

Also shouldn't the App store info about apps warn about which apps will get in your face with full scree video? If you are on cell service, a full screen video is going to eat up a lot of your monthly allowance. Hopefully reviewers/raters will make a stink about it so one can find out before downloading an app.

Jailbreak and a custom host file cures this problem nicely.

Block 'em all, let God sort 'em out.

... and to think i was about to say something nice about Apple this time...

Full screen eh ? No way......... Apple's got their goal.. iAds.. they never said anything about it being "full screen"

In fact they DID say "UN-intrusive" .. This, is the opposite.

Developers, roll up your sleeves..

This will only want you to jail-break more.

Lame. iAd is so stale and ineffective that it is NO surprise to me that actual ad networks like Airpush and even Millennial Media are leagues ahead of Apple's capabilities. This is sad, my friends. VERY sad.

So I guess it's time to turn off auto-update and manually check each new version of an app before updating to make sure it doesn't have full-screen adds (or other features that make the new version worse, not better).

Just some thoughts ....

There are developers who make great apps. We all love those and are willing to pay "more than those $ 0.99".

But, on the other hand, there are also some "developers" who don't even bother to create any usable app. They link in their "apps" to foreign websites and are happy to get $ 0.99 for this crap, not even bothering to update if the website changes.

Now, with those full screen ad videos, I would not be surprised if the number of crappy apps will increase - after all, those people never intended to make money from happy customers. Of course, everybody will delete those "apps" after opening them for the first time.

But there is a never ending stream of new users and some developers might be happy throwing garbage into the app store - a new app every week - and get some revenue from ads per app for a short time.

Everybody happy except the users and, in the long run, developers who create valuable apps?

And, btw, if I download a free version of an app to help me decide if it is worth buying the full version and this app contains a full screen ad video, I won't wait and test the app. I will delete it immediately and never think about buying the full app. We live in fast times, nobody pays attention for 5 or more seconds on something that seems to be just annoying.

The reality of in app advertising is that nothing is ever sold or purchased. It is useless and only serves as a frustrating experience for the user. As a result, advertisers must make ads increasingly larger, louder and even more distracting. The whole concept of this form of bully-advertising has been and always will be a fallacy.

Underestimating the intelligence of users

With all the spyware and adds now being integrated into apps, don't these idiots at Apple and the devs understand that the trend will be to look elsewhere for what users want?

It is financial suicide on the part of the devs and Apple to do something like this in the long term. I have now learned to live with the minimum apps that I believe I need and avoid the rest.

There is no such thing as a free lunch unless it is stolen.
