No need to worry. My late 2008 MBP 15 is still going strong. Had to get a non-Apple replacement battery last year. And, I spent a couple hundred dollars on 4 extra GB of RAM and a 300 GB SSD.

So, just rotate the tires regularly and change the oil according to the owner's manual and you'll be fine.
There's a bit of a conflict here. :p You hopped up your Mac with more RAM and an SSD, in addition to replacing the "fuel tank". Mods are always worth it IMHO!

I hopped up my Benz C-Class wagon with Brabus headers/exhaust/cams/crank and AMG quick-shifter/anti-sway bars/springs/wheels and my E550 with lots of AMG mods and BBS wheel. Oh, and Michelin Pilot SS tires - just rotated. Serious fun that gets me there with a :D every time... I'm still several thousand miles away from an oil change.

I'll take my new rMBP with a Xeon and 32GB of RAM, in Silver to match my two MBs - modded, zippy, and ready to get to work... :evil grin: Cheers!

I really hope Apple comes out with their own TB3 hub. I want something that can do 4K @ 60 + 1080p, though I'd prefer 2x 4K for longevity, and then power passthrough. Seems like nobody makes one yet.

I wonder if a 4K display will be optional, at least on the 15"? The only fly in the ointment would be the lack of 4K friendly Kaby Lake.

Really hoping they only did away with the SD on the 13, and left it on the 15. Sorry Apple, but doing away with the SD card reader is not going to push the world to using bubble gum to hold data inside my camera.

I think we're at least a year away from seeing a white MacBook Pro. They'll likely introduce a Jet White color for the refresh next year but that may not make its way onto the MacBooks because they'll be using different materials. There's still hope considering Apple is fond of glossy white products.

I know, but it's a shame. I've been missing white on Macs ever since they introduced that first alu imac in 2007. I still don't like that black bezel....one of the reasons why I prefer the design of the MBA

Will definitely buy a new MB Pro to replace my 2009 one, and hopefully a new 5K monitor if one is also announced.

The only thing i'm really reluctant about is the fact that these will most probably be Skylake models. Kaby Lake is supposed to have made huge strides in terms of being able to handle 4K content much more smoothly and efficiently in comparison. Shame...I'd honestly be willing to wait a couple more months if that meant they'd use Kaby Lake over Skylake. Still, i'm excited for redesigned models.

No, it wasn't about that. It says "oled backlit touch panel" that was singled out from "touch bar". So if we know it's not the touch bar, then what is an oled backed touch panel?
No, it clearly says the OLED backlit panel replacing the function keys; no mention of "touch bar."

I do not have any needs to upgrade any of my systems at this time, so I care less about this, but I can't say, I am not excited to see what their vision is and what the future holds.

I am excited about new MacBook Pros. I also would love to see the 13" Air get the MacBook treatment as I might opt for that instead if that is what occurs.

iMacs are possible also.

Not so optimistic about the mini or the pro or the display. Which is a shame.

I'm skeptical. Maybe on an iMac, but not a MacBook Pro. I think it's possible they'll include an adaptor though. Not with a USB-C MBA, but with a 15" MacBook Pro.

I'm not expecting the MBA to change substantially. It will likely take the place of the 2012 MBP. They'll bring the ports up to date, and possibly add a Lightning port in place of MagSafe which I imagine they will phase out across the lineup. And it will possibly get a processor upgrade, but no screen upgrade.

And in keeping with the 2012 MBP legacy placeholder, it will be the only MB that retains the SD card slot for those who need it, and quite possibly the only MacBook that retains a USB 3 port. Maybe something like this:

Psst...everyone here is a pro photographer and everyone knows ALL pros ONLY use SD... ;)

I'd say there are probably a decent amount of "pros" that shoot on SD cards. Lots of professionals are using mirrorless cameras due to the size/weight and pretty much every mirrorless camera uses SD cards currently. My D750 is considered prosumer, but it has better AF than my friends D4S and higher dynamic range than his D800 while shooting on SD's...

Personally only USB-C would annoy me. I'll end up working around it, but I'd definitely prefer magsafe, SD, and HDMI. Hooking up to any TV is a great feature, along with being able to not worry about bringing card readers along. Magsafe speaks for itself.

Ive had to replace the trackpad twice. the battery is shot (understandably), have had the original HDD fail (has since been upgraded to ssd), and doesn't have a lot of features that I could use with my iPhone

My 15-inch macbook pro late 2011 is also ready for new macbook pro! Or maybe I should go for iMac and keep the macbook pro as a portable..

Bought the Applecare and it is soooo worth it... every year went for servicing... hdd fail, battery replacement, graphics fail, motherboard fail, speaker (the subwoofer) distort...

Yeah, Kaby Lake would've been nice and I have a feeling there may be a Kaby Lake update in 6-9 months.

What do you mean? An internal 4K display? I doubt it. It would make graphics performance worse for very little visual gain.

Interesting...about the same week I will purchase the amazing samsung chromebook pro for a third of the price of a macbook..........

I'm still cautiously hopeful that we'll see Kaby Lake on the 13". All the other OEMs have Kaby Lake parts out in force already for some time. The readily available i7-7500U matches the dual-core processors in the current MacBook Pro 13" quite well, while admittedly the quad core versions for the 15" haven't been announced yet.

Am I the only person that loves the new keyboard from Apple...?

I've used every keyboard Apple has ever made and the most recent is the best. I can type faster, more accurately, and with less effort.

Going back to even the previous generation wireless keyboard with the two AA batteries feels ancient and inefficient.

been waiting for this seems forever but i bet there will be one aspect of the new pro that decides me not to upgrade finally, like no usb ports or some nonsense like that.

I love mine - the only issue is that when rubbish gets stuck underneath I'm without a laptop for a while when Apple fix it.

should be able to just pop off the key cap and blow it out or doesn't that work anymore?
