Mac Pro is the ONLY thing I care about. Apple, you'd better deliver!

And on a side note: the MacBook Pro had better still have Magsafe and an SD card reader. If not, is it really even a professional product anymore? Pros use SD cards ALL the time for both photo and video. Removing the SD card reader would be a punch in the gut! And if Apple's thinking of ditching Magsafe just because it's too big, couldn't they just design a smaller Magsafe connector?

And on a side side note: the MacBook Pro had better not have a Lightning port instead of a headphone jack. That would be the most ridiculous, outright stupid thing that they could possibly do.

Definitely interested. But what the heck do I do about all of my peripherals that still have USB-A connectors?

I'm happy for all the folks waiting for new portable Macs.

But the MacPro and Mac mini are desperately in need of updates as well.

Will we have to wait until 2017 for these desktop Mac upgrades (aside from minor iMac upgrades)?

I guess so reading the latest rumors.

Update the MacPro and Mac mini lines already, Apple!

at some point my impatience turned to indifference. I may buy the new MBP, or I may just wait til mine dies. The OLED Control Strip & Touch ID sound gimmicky & One More Thing To Break Down. KISS.

This is exactly where I am except I have a 2011 cMBP.

I don't want a control strip or touch ID but I don't really care if it does have them either. But i want a good keyboard with decent travel, a powerful CPU, plenty of storage that doesn't add a crazy cost.

I love how artsy 'pros' (like photographers and film makers) seem to think that artsy 'pros' are the only kind of professionals that exist, and therefore losing an SD card slot spells the death of the Apple Professional.

Or are Engineers, Scientists, Programmers, Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers, etc. not professionals?

Tim Cook: ladies and gentlemen...thank you..thank you...it's an amazing day...we got lot of things to talk about. It's so incredible....it's amazing. For MacBook Pro, we sold 2.5 million units... for MacBook Air, we sold 1.9 million. It's incredible. For Mac iMac, we sold 2.1 million so far....okay thank you for coming.

Pro DSLRs primarily use Compact Flash and CFast cards. Consumer DSLRs use SD cards.
I guess sonys alpha 7r2 and nikons d810 are $3000 "consumer" dslrs. I prefer sd cards when shooting as they're much more durable than cf and I can pop them in my rmbp without a cheesy reader.

Personally, with Tim Cook steering the boat, my expectations have been dropping next to zero.
Assuming the rumors are correct and it's Skylake, a processor nearing the end of it's life cycle while many of the PC makers are rolling out Kaby Lake products. I'm not excited, not at all. It'll be thinner - big deal. It'll have that OLED thing on it, looks like a gimmick and not innovation. This is looking like we've spent 500+ days waiting for very little.

Well technically, "professional" means that a degree is mandatory, so all doctors and lawyers, most engineers, some teachers and scientists, few programmers are "professionals". And by the same token, very few "artsy" types are by definition.

No conventional ports could be a deal killer for me - but if they offer a 2 TB hard drive option and the keyboard is usable I may just deal with it. Can you imagine it - not a single thing you own can be plugged directly into your computer - everything is external, everything needs an adapter. Except for your headphones. :)
+1,000,000,000

I see complaints about lack of hdmi, sd slot etc, guys my worst fears is that Apple might also solder SSD on Macs in addition to the already soldered RAM. That would be quite quite unfortunate and far worse than the ports issue.

I never use the SD slots of my MacBooks , but could see why people would be unhappy about omitting them. Either way - looking forward to the event, just when I thought it'd be too late for October stuff happening...

Totally agree, even the word Skylake has become boring. No Kaby, no buyee.

Actually, after waiting so long for the new laptops to come out, I'm beginning to think a much less expensive iPad Pro might be all I need after all.

I hope they update the iMac 4K and do away with the 5400 RPM drive. I bought this iMac yesterday and since I have gotten it, it has been pretty slow doing just basic things. Lots of spinning beachballs. Fortunately, it looks like I will be within my 30 day return policy on the iMac when the new ones are (hopefully) released.

I suppose I could get a new Mac mini. Since the one I have is a 2007 model. But still works better than my 2013 windows7 pro laptop. I just hope Apple puts in a good gpu.
