Thank GOD! Is this confirmed!?!?
No, everyone is assuming like it's actually fact. (yay! no longer speculation!)

Thank GOD!

I've got a 12 Macbook last year and it's so effing slow I can barely use the thing.

Erm. Macbook won't get an upgrade. It's made for surfing the web and doing email. So it shouldn't be slow for those tasks.

What do I do with 4 USB-C ports??? I have nothing to plug into them.
But i'm sure you have at least 4 devices with USB A plugs, so 4 USB A to USB C dongles should do the trick, or to be safe, just get one for every USB A cord you have.

Assuming the rumors are correct and it's Skylake, a processor nearing the end of it's life cycle while many of the PC makers are rolling out Kaby Lake products. I'm not excited, not at all. It'll be thinner - big deal. It'll have that OLED thing on it, looks like a gimmick and not innovation. This is looking like we've spent 500+ days waiting for very little.

True. The 12" MacBook and MacBook Airs should be getting Kaby Lake next Thursday, since the appropriate CPUs are out. It's going to look comical when every PC manufacturer who uses core m and 15W CPUs are already switching to Kaby Lake

[QUOTE="Can you imagine it - not a single thing you own can be plugged directly into your computer - everything is external, everything needs an adapter. Except for your headphones. :)[/QUOTE]

The Jury's out on whether you'll be able to plug in your headphones; unless of course they're TB3/USB-C.

Apple will introduce new Macs at an event that's set to take place on Thursday, October 27, reports Re/code. The event will be held "at or near" Apple's Cupertino campus instead of in San Francisco, suggesting it will perhaps be at the company's Town Hall conference center.

Re/code does not detail which Macs will receive a refresh at the event, but Apple's entire Mac lineup, aside from the Retina MacBook, is in need of a refresh.

New MacBook Pro models will likely headline the event, as rumors suggest a major update is in the works. The new MacBook Pro is said to include a redesigned, thinner body with a flatter MacBook-style keyboard, an OLED touch panel that replaces the physical function keys at the top of the keyboard, and Touch ID support.

It is expected to do away with the USB-A port, HDMI port, and SD card slot, featuring just four USB-C ports based on part leaks, and it is said to include support for USB 3.1 and Thunderbolt 3.

A recent rumor from Japanese site Mac Otakara suggests Apple will also be introducing a new 13-inch MacBook Air, also featuring USB-C and Thunderbolt 3. Other products that could potentially see refreshes include the iMac, the Mac Pro, and the Mac mini.

With an event set to take place on October 27, media invites should be going out later this week.

C'mon Apple, blow my mind with a new, redesigned, smaller, revolutionary Mac Mini.

It could be a silent fanless device, but otherwise it could have a more powerful quad-core CPU with a powerful GPU. Integrated, or dedicated.

I'll definitely buy my first mac mini if they are not over the 800€

At one time (but no more) the Mac mini was a great little computer but then Apple went to non-upgradable DRAM and took away the quad-core i7 option. But, at least in this case they reduced the entry-level price by about 16% ($100). But on reflection, that kind of started this trend to less and less capable products much like what is being proposed in the latest rumor for the new MacBook Pros.

I like the new keyboard concept (if it happens) and it's time to change over to USB-C so those are not issues for me. However, if they remove the SD card, MagSafe, and the HDMI port then that will definitely be a step down (IMO).

I do it everyday and love it. You'll be fine or you won't. Poor you.

I've noticed most of the people that hate this keyboard haven't used it outside of tapping on it at the Apple Store. Not all, but most.

Of the owners I know and read on these forums it seems mostly "meh" to "yay." I honestly still prefer the pre-unibody keyboards to the current crop. I haven't typed enough on the MacBook to have a useful opinion. My initial reaction is pretty negative, but most of the biggest fans tend to say it takes some getting used to. I just hope the pro keyboards have a bit more travel in them.

Well TBQH it does take getting used to as with anything new. That's pretty standard. I just know I make less mistakes than with those noisy sausage keyboards that have HUGE travel.

Then be prepared to wait another half a year, until the Kaby Lake is actually properly released. All we have now are crappy 15W and lower low-power Kaby Lake. You don't expect Apple to use a CPU that actually doesn't exist, do you?

Why is everyone going so damned bonkers? I'm excited too, but it's still just a rumor, right? Re/Code said it. It's not official. Or did I miss something?

Though bad timing for the UK, these are likely to reflect the value of the £. Could be the mist expansive macs to date. Right now the iPhone is cheapest in UK if you are in the EU

Or you could just use this...

USB-C to Lightning Cable (1m)
http://store.apple.com/xc/product/MK0X2ZM/A

What's going to be crazy is when do the iPhone 7s/8 include these instead of USB-A??

What do I do with 4 USB-C ports??? I have nothing to plug into them.

See the quote below with the big HOLE...

this event is going to YUGE!!!

I just can't wait to watch the event on TV...man it's gonna be crying for two hours, with joy.

Hey everybody! The USB-C dongles are right down there!
View attachment 666428

I watched the loop about 70 times and was dying laughing almost...

Too late to return it?

I just got a NEW 2015/11 last week, whew... just in the nick of time...

no USB-A?? LOOOL
courage? no, ludicrous! Replacing all of my hardware with what? A USB stick that I can no longer use at other computers?!

Exactly!!

A dongle-less cable? What kind of witchcraft is this.

These are going to be like similar to how the first USB cable with the funky Square End plugged into devices and hubs and then the USB-A into your computer. Instead it's going to be Lightning <-> USB-C
