That would still be better than starting out at a higher price, wouldn't it?Even if it starts at $800, after all my BTO selections it'll end up in the $1100 range.

Some now are thinking the MacBook Air, of all things, could become the $800 notebook.
I don't know what an appropriate starting price point would have been, but certainly less than $1,700. But it would make sense to give it a major price drop, especially as with the new MacBook and MacBook Pro being released tomorrow, why would anyone still want an Air?lol you mean like it should have been from the start?
Excuse my ignorance but how are people expecting the MBPs to be cheaper when top of the line MBP now costs $2800 and the most expensive one will now cost $3100?
The 17-inch MBP with a 2.6 GHz processor and high-resolution screen costs $3150, and that's a standard configuration that I'm sure you could buy in-store - so they do currently have a notebook at that price level.
799 x 595 / 1099 x 1,97 / 1,75 x 1,175 ≈ £ 569Say the new MBs were 800 or 900 USD, how much do people think they'd be in the UK?
Could be the inclusion of a 20" MacBook Pro.
Finally!!!
I can't tell if you are kidding or not.
Who would want a 20" MBP?
Maybe I'm wrong, but that seems a bit too big...
Not really. It'll be as portable as an iMac, so you mind as well get that!
Call me crazy and I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned or not, but is it possible that Apple might keep the current/older MacBook style and simply lower the price point of those notebooks to meet the $800-900 price point that we're currently speculating on?
To anyone following the press conference:
*cough* I was wrong about the Pros, but apparently I was right about the MacBooks. How lame... I knew it was too good to be true when the $799 rumor first started, but I so wanted to be wrong... Well, I guess I'll be looking at a new Vaio w/internal Blu-Ray. I really wanted a Mac, too.![]()
People,
I'm new, long time mac user, but have been reading for awhile. If you really want to see your complaints go to good use, and want do see change, then go here (someone else already suggested, but nothing really was done):
http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbook.html
Make an official complaint, and I can promise you that if enough of us do it, apple will listen - and HOPEFULLY change prices and problems!
Please please please do it! Complain about whatever you want - just make sure you include the crappy prices + and lack up educational discount!!!
THANKS APPLE YOU BIG RIP OFF!
Thanks!
I do agree with your points, all but Jobs; does he really have that much of a say over what's happening? I'd love to know. The increase in prices (where I live anyways) clearly shows that Apple is really in touch with the current economic situation.
Also I think the new models are yet another example of "form over function". The MBP is supposed to be a PRO model, so why not have 3 usb ports, a firewire 400, a firewire 800, hell, maybe even a eSata port. But no, let's make less ports because it looks better that way.
Next model I'm predicting No ports, NO removable battery..... 'cause that'll look nicer and maybe save the company 10 bucks.
Apple, maybe stick to making iPhones and iPods, the only products you truly seem interested in anyways.
Or maybe it's just time for Jobs to go?
