Digitimes forecasts: often wrong
Ming Chi Kuo: the best(?) of the prognosticators who gets paid to do so?

My bet would be with Kuo, meaning 2024. Why? If one was coming, it would almost certainly be an October event/press release and how many rumors of this are flying as of Sep 25? And what else would make up an October event? I very much doubt an M3iMac though I could see an M2 one. Roll out the lone M3 Mac now and create the psychological effect that all of the other Macs (and upcoming Vpro) are "old tech" reversing how iMac is viewed now as the only one with "old tech" inside. M2 would just get the last holdout brought "up to date" and still make sense vs. an M2 Vpro releasing in 3-6 months (else that one would need to switch to M3, which is also plausible).

There's that iPad Air update rumor.

Otherwise??? Seems like crickets. Accessories going USB-C seems they would be on a schedule of when their existing inventories get low enough and then the USB-C versions just take over as Lightning inventory sells out.

Is M2 iMac, updated Air and Mini enough for an hour or two Campus video event? I think not. Is it enough for a press release (updates)? That seems favorable if anything. However, as of Sep 25, I'd expect flurries of rumors about all 3 now: colors, cables, features, photos, cases, etc. Where's that flurry?

That shared, anything updated is always welcomed. Bring on the new as soon as it is ready.

I agree. We’ve heard absolutely nothing except this about an upcoming releases the entire supply chain needs many months to ramp up. Plus, it’s Digitimes. And it’s only one really brief and slightly ambiguous sentence in their report.

My daughter wanted to buy an iPad and I asked her if she wanted my iPad mini 5 so she researched it and decided that she wanted it. The advantage to her is that she wouldn't have to pay for it. She bought an Apple Pencil and just loves it for sketching. She says that she's glad she is using the mini as it's the perfect size.

I have been considering a mini 6 though I don't strictly need one. It's a nice-to-have device for me and I'd mainly use it at the gym for watching videos when on the treadmill and maybe placing stock trades there. I could also use it to read books. It would be a completely discretionary device. I have an iPhone 13 mini and it's nice to have an iPad mini to complement the small iPhone.

The other thing I love about the iPad mini is that it fits perfectly in my cancer kit which I always carry with me outside the house. So having it with me is not an issue.

It would be nice to know what the upgrades are though.

I really hope that some day they will make a mini that's a bit bigger. I have been using iPad Pros for several years but always felt like they were a little too big, and too few applications were optimized for the iPad Mini for me to like it when I used that for a few months (why is its type smaller than my iPhone?!). I would like an iPad Pro Mini that has the specs of the iPad Pro with a ~9" display.

The screen absolutely sucks on the current Mini 6, and I presume that the Mini 7 will have the same crappy display, despite a faster chip and still give me a headache if I even glance at it. The Mini 6 single-handedly took me out of the Mini market for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, I will hold onto my Mini 5 with my cold dead hands.
I have the iPad mini 5 and the screen seems totally fine to me. Did it get worse on the 6?

The design in iPhone 15; oval edges + miniLed + 120hz ProMotion + A17 Pro + 48mp single camera + everything that is good = iPad Mini 7

I say: wow! If Apple does it this way, it will make the market cry. But probably won't.

I don't know if it's just me or what but I can't really tell the difference with pro-motion. I set my 14 pro to 60 hz and I can't really tell at all. Anyway I just bought a iPad mini 6 and I think it's great. I also have an iPad Pro but a lot of times I just love the portability of the smaller form factor. I hesitated a little bit because of the age of the model but I don't really need anything else and does what I need.

Unfortunately, I went with the 64GB iPad mini 6 early last year. I figured that cloud storage would be enough. Now I can't even update the OS without deleting a bunch of stuff. Hopefully, the 7th gen packs more storage on the base model.

A refresh for the 2021 iPad mini, 2022 iPad Air or 2022 iPad is likely to be out before New Year's Day.

Looking at the dimensions of the iPad Mini 6, if the 7's dimensions are identical, I might get one to use in the screen of my Walthers Cornerstone HO-scale Skyview Drive-In Theater on my model train layout. The screen is designed to accept a 7.9" tablet, and I currently use an older iPad Mini 2 I bought from my workplace to stream videos and such on the tablet screen, mostly drive-in intermission snack bar snipes, trailers, and 1950s-70s theatrical cartoons.

Since the videos I play are in a 4:3 aspect ratio, the plastic screen housing cutting anything off wouldn't be much of a problem.
Nice! I saw an N-scale modular layout with a drive-in setup, where they had a slot to literally drop their iPhone in & act as the screen 🤣 always thought that would be a fun one to set up.

As someone who is obsessed with the latest and greatest all the things and always buys the newest things….the old iPad mini is my favorite portable device. Certainly my favorite iPad. The size is just so perfect. So I’m so here for it when they update the specs and hopefully the screen.

I just want an iPad Pro mini with OLED and ProMotion.

Please Apple.
This would be cool. Maybe someday when Apple runs out of ways to make more money. Before that I think it's more likely we'll se an iPhone Pro that unfolds into an "iPad mini Pro" of sorts. And that would be amazing if they can get the display durable enough.

An iPad Pro mini might be the only iPad I would be okay with having Dynamic Island. Why? Maximize the screen space while keeping it as small as possible. Imagine a mini with bezels the size of the iPhone 15 Pro! Based on the current bezels that are about 0.7" total, I think you could size it at 9" and only make it a couple mm larger to account for the bezel. At that point the Mini screen size would be getting close to the original 9.7" iPad which is pretty crazy to think about.

I’ve been using a couple of mini 5 with keyboards from Brydge absolutely great for putting in my bag doing some work on the go, so please lets have a keyboard with this one, first or third party I don’t care!

Since new iPhones can output to HDMI, buy yourself a portable screen of any desired size to scratch that itch now. Example. Much cheaper than an Apple-branded dumb screen device and potentially the exact same panel Apple might choose if they did make one.
I'd want the connection to be achieved wirelessly! Just plonk your phone next to the screen device and it connects. (Which technology is used is another matter. Wifi? Bluetooth?)

Why don't you do some searches? I'm showing you a way to get what you want now, without the hefty Apple markup if they ever would build what you seek. There's probably a smaller one out there somewhere. Google can be your friend.

Else consider a MB and run iOS apps on the left and iPadOS apps on the right. Bonus: you'll have a whole Mac in there too. It can also be a buds + mic phone with a VOIP app.
