What I don’t like with the M5 is that there is no buffer left. 12GB is the bare minimum to get all the features for ipadOS 27. Don’t want to pay too much for a device which might be outdated too soon.

Pfft … Whats Ever New about these iPads ? The chip ? Big Deal that shouldn’t be an acceptable upgrade its just plain generic 😵‍💫 Did you know it still has the same resolution it has had for almost 14 YEARS 😱😱😱 @264ppi same as what the ipad 3 came out with 😳 When the first iPad Pro came out it showed off its better cameras so what do you get now ? nothing they where removed lmao 🤣 Yes the pro models have Pro Motion but that’s not new technology its just been deliberately not fitted to the cheaper iPads so they can still use it as a selling point because the reality is its an old stale product with absolutely No evolution the only thing that changes is the price hikes. Personally i’m never upgrading my iPad Pro 5 until they fix that god awful resolution that looks shockingly awful against my ipad mini that has 326ppi resolution 🙄

My m1 iPad Pro is ok but shows its age on daily use, plus my keyboard folio case looks very old and used, with peeled off bits everywhere. However, it makes no sense for me to buy a new folio when my iPad is 5 years old either, leaving upgrade the only viable option.
You could always just find a nice third-party folio. It may not be the same as a genuine Apple product, but it would be cheaper.

It's too expensive.
Especially when you look at the used prices. I am on a m1 and it dos everything I need perfectly, but even the ones with newer chips go for so much less than a new one. If seen the m4 pro go as low as 450€ on eBay, not every day but still. No idea who actually needs this power.

Yeah, I had a third party one that looks just like apples. It also falls apart by now, unfortunately the supply dos not seem to be there anymore to replace it. Back when I think I payed 20€.

$1500 and it will nothing that the iPad M1 can’t.
I sort of expect the next iPad os to overwhelm the m1 to slow it down so you got reasons to buy when there is no more updates for the device next year. You know, like they did it with the Intel Macs that are just crushed by liquid glass without the option to turn many of the system hogs of.
But yeah, 99,99999999% of people will never need more than a m1 iPad. Hell, even my iPad two still would stream Netflix and YouTube properly while browsing the web if Apple had not slowed it down significantly with the last os update it got. The keyboard would not even type anymore without lag. I bettcha they will do the same with ai, just overwhelm the chip so the device feels like a turd all of the sudden.

Imagine how i feel with the M4 version with 8 GB ram lol. Honestly don't worry about it too much, 12 GB is decent which is needed for Siri AI ‘Pro’, everything else on iPad OS 27/28 etc will be there in full, and can always use Gemini if necessary (results will be a bit slower).

I finally got what i needed a macbook neo and a iphone air.
Honestly my love for the ipad is finished now, the experience i get from both devices is superior now to me.

The compactness of the air which has a slightly wider screen then a regular pro (i find typing way more easy now)

And a full MacOS experience for work/study related work.

No more half-assing with a ipad.

If i could only just use Office on my ipad pro m4 as it is on the macbook and make the ipad file system easier to use it would be great for my use

sounds like will be keeping my nano texture 1TB ipad pro for a while. if it's just a chip upgrade and cooling chamber.

I upgraded my 2020 iPad Pro A12z to a 2025 M3 iPad Air.

I could be wrong but any iPad with an M Chip is going to do the job.

Are they any people out there who have work flows on their iPads that require more raw power outside of just flexing?

Because in my opinion iPad OS is still the bottle neck even though iOS 26 did make a lot of changes to allow the iPad to work better as a laptop.

Still, nowhere near as versatile as a Mac.
Believe it or not, gaming on iPad is still a thing and graphically intensive games will need more raw power to run better.

As for workflows, uhh, I don’t know. Maybe if they try to use iPad version of professional applications they will have better luck using full power but even that has their own limits.

I wish macOS don’t get dumbed down and limited to the same level as iPadOS.

Cooling chamber could be nice for me to play games for longer on higher settings. But at the same time that’s first generation Apple tech so I’m not as sold to jump the ship asap.

Yeah I know but I love how Apple folio works and I intend to get the Apple folio one when I upgrade my iPad. The ability to use iPad in a normal typing position when space is limited is quite amazing.

I feel the same about Apple's Smart Folio for the iPad Pro. I have tried a few third party options, the quality is actually pretty good for how cheap they are, but I find myself still going back to Apple's first party offering. It just feels "right" to me, and once you are used to it, you can't go back.

It will be interesting to see this MacBook Ultra with OLED/Touchscreen when/if its released, I may finally ditch the IPad Pro after 10+ years of being my main device.

I suspect you’re right. Hopefully there is a way to disable their AI… all the other AI platforms work great on my iPad and I’ll just continue with them as long as I can.
