Interestingly the newspaper report that quoted a U2 spokesperson saying no involvement with the Apple event was removed. Here's a cache of it. I still have my doubts U2 will be involved (other than maybe performing new material at the event) but perhaps Apple asked the newspaper to take down the link.

I can see why the article was removed.
It seems U2 WAS in Dublin and were shooting a video. They paid 8200 Euro to have the streets closed. NDA kept them from saying anything.
