So when exactly did Apple say this was an iPhone event? Can someone show me when/where Apple said this. I think I missed it.

******************

On a more serious note

We have this:
- A press invite that gives away nothing at all
- The press giving more than the standard one week notice
- The even being hold at the iconic 1984 and original iMac unveiling theatre. I believe size of the room and it's history were some of the reasons why it was chosen
- A whole new building or part of a building being constructed (and now covered in white false walls to keep it a secret
- Some people from Apple (Schiller I believe amongst others) have officially said Apple has it's biggest/most important line up in the past 25 years or to date ever
- A countdown clock for the event (something Apple usually do not do)
- Apple announcing that there will be a live feed days before the event. Usually Apple don't announce this fact or of they do it's hours before the event only.
- Live video from our special event will be right here, And so will a whole lot more. What is this whole lot more? Usually we just get advertising on the website for whatever the keynote announces. But these website changes are never announced directly. This time they are.

All of this (all of it fact and not rumour) points to something big going down on the 9th of September.

Here's one thing I miss/wish: I miss the theaters formerly located in the back of most Apple retail stores. I love communal experiences. I still remember going to the Apple regional office in Santa Monica in 1999 and watching Steve introduce the iBook, Airport, and a preview of OSX with about 30 or so others. Sure I can go to a local Apple Store and watch on one of their Macs or watch it on my own at home, but an event such as this really needs to be a shared experience.

They didn't say it was an iPhone event. They never do. It's an assumption because Apple has released a new iPhone every September/October for the last few years now.

But I agree. I can't wait to see what they've got for us!

It's gonna be 3 AM in Australia. Better stock up on red bull I guess.
I'll be up with you at 3am too in Australia *high-five* for the all nighter :)

We both know Apple didn't say it. I was being a little sarcastic there.

Anyone knows how to make the live stream work on a windows PC ?
I do not want to watch the event on my iPhone.

Ohhh haha. Hard to catch sarcasm over the internet.

Dang! That's dedication right there. I'd be up at 3 AM too, but I'm on the West coast, so I'll be watching at 10 AM.

Exception on the 4S:

Apple are really cranking their own hype machine for this event, and that worries me.

Massive temporary structure at the event.

Vague quotes and teases from Jony Ive and Tim Cook about being excited.

Their own count down timer on their website.

Event location is at a historically important venue for Apple.

Unless they release the iPhone 6, iWatch, AppleTV, iPad, iPad mini, Retina Macbook Airs, iMacs and Mac minis people are going to be disappointed.

I'm afraid this is going to become some self congratulating washout about an ugly phone and a watch.

Jony Ive didn't say anything publicly. Someone off the record reported something he allegedly said at Apple corporate. That's not hype and who even knows if its true.

That's true, it was a weird 'non quote' in the article. Apologies if my post was inflammatory :p I'm just really trying to steady my expectations in the face of the fevered excitement that seems to be building up all around me.

Some previous streamed events were viewable on windows if you have Quicktime 7 installed; although the event page told you that in advance.

I think there are a few Youtubers that screen-record it live. They shouldn't do this, but if you do a search on Youtube at the time of the event for 'Apple event' then set it to show results that are only live and then set most resent.

No. Tim Cook is finally going to show the world why he said almost two years ago, "Don't bet against Apple." I don't believe Eddy Cue was lying or otherwise in la-la land when he said "best product line-up in 25 years". I don't believe they'd pick the historical venue and build that giant structure to host a circle jerk.

I agree with this, as far as I know, Apple have never put a count down on their page for an event. If they do stream it they usually say so a day or two before the event. The white building at the Flint Centre could be a demo area, Also Apple haven't hosted an event at the Flint centre for years. I could be wrong but I think Apple are going to release some great stuff. It may well be that wee see the iPhone 6 (2 models) and an iWatch, but I think the iWatch may very well be a game changer. Apple only ever enter into these markets when they know they can deliver a game changer.

Apple never invented the smartphone market, but they did deliver a game changer with the iPhone. Apple never invented the tablet, but they delivered a game changer with the iPad. And I think they will do exactly the same with the smart watch.

Can't wait until the 9th :D

You mean to tell me you don't have an iphone or ipad to stream it on?

I like to watch it on my PC. It's just better at multitasking... On special occasion like apple events I like keep an eye on loads on news site, twitter, blogs etc...

Good thing someone at YouTube will stream it.. Thank goodness we have google.

----------

That's good to know. I'll probably watch it on my Apple TV then.

Wait do I need to have a mac to watch it? Can I not watch it on my Apple TV, iPad or iPod touch?

Yes you can. Only on apple products.

If true, I personally think this was an intentional "leak." Let's make a couple of assumptions. Let's assume that since you're high enough up the chain to interact with Jony you have a fairly good job at Apple. Let's assume you value that job - you're well compensated, you like the job, and you want to keep the job. He says something to YOU. You tell the press. Chances are good there's no anonymity there, he's going to know who you are. I doubt anyone would be that stupid. Yes, they're not leaking anything too important but it shows your boss you may have trouble keeping your mouth shut. Unless, of course, it was meant to get out. :)

I do have some priorities - wanting to see my children before bedtime being higher than a keynote.. :) I listen to audible books now on my phone through a speaker to while away the driving...

That said, I will still be hoping the meeting finishes early!

Ah, that's a good reason :)

Pretty sure it still is Apple Devices only. It says Safari on 10.6.7 or late; on iOS 6 or later & Apple TV.

That is not what was on the apple site when following the link.

Correction: I was mistaken. The streaming is only for Mac products.
