The fact they are actually streaming this means I think this will be a decent event. Certainly bigger than what the 5S event was (The last held at Town Hall).

It might be nothing, but the rainbow colours on the invite echo the colours of the iOS8 logo.

Perhaps an updated Apple TV with an iOS8 based OS, deals with content providers and an app store?

Plus, of course, the annual iPad refresh, Haswell Mac Mini (although hard to make a song and dance out of that very delayed upgrade), possibly a hint of the new MacBook Air, but suspect not available until next year when Broadwell properly happens.

It's an cringe-worthy tag line. The marketing team should be fired. There is no upside to the perception that it creates. It just makes people think, "Yeah! It has been way too long since Apple [updated the iPad] [updated the iMac] [updated the Thunderbolt display]"...etc.

Whatever they announce, we will still be thinking about how they waited "too long" and also about any products needing updates that DIDN'T get them, so now we're even more disappointed.

Just a bad idea all around.

IMO, the fact that people start to think "it's a product that hasn't been updated in a while" but don't know which one it is, generates speculation/curiosity and as consequence buzz/attention. It has the upside that people are talking about it and are waiting for it, that's Marketing!

The most likely scenario is that the major products are going to be all updated so anyone disappointed will probably be a minority wishing for a product that the vast majority don't care about. I also don't think people will think they waited too long, unless the products updated suck...

----------

To be announced next week...

1. Macs in different colours (been one colour for way too long)

2. New Apple TV.

3. Change of Mac name, dropping the 'i' and replacing it with 'Apple'.

4. New Apple Pads.

5. New Apple Mini

It's called Mac Mini and not iMini, so I think that Apple Mini doesn't fit your 3.

Oh and it's funny how everyone remembers the last stream for failing badly but everyone forgets that the previous streams worked fine...just saying...

Hope they do a better job with this one :)

No worries this time :) They got more than enough bandwidth, the last time they suffered a idiotic problem with the new redesign of apple.com, which required a tiny bit of javascript code which resulted in them being unable to cache the pages. That´s why everyone was having streaming problems, I assure you that won´t happen again :)

As for the Chinese translation was a mic location problem at the new venue. That too won´t happen again :)

The fact they are actually streaming this means I think this will be a decent event. Certainly bigger than what the 5S event was (The last held at Town Hall).

I doubt it. After the streaming problems in September, Apple wants to verify that all the problems are resolved before the next important event (i.e. it's a test run). I expect to hear lots of complaints after the event on how bad it was (the updates).

I made every effort to watch the September keynote live stream and it just wasnt worth all the trouble in the end.
So even if there are issues with the October 16 stream, as long as they have something truly awesome to offer us as far as iPad Air and Apple TV are concerned then I'm happy to put up with any glitches.
Hoping to see iPad Air with 2gb ram, iPod Nano back to 6th gen size and form and a much improved Apple TV. Also hoping that Apple TV will be jailbreakable.
A bigger iPod Touch would be awesome too! With ambient light sensor again. I miss that.
Oh and a MacBook Air with color options .... space grey for me please! ;)
Dear santa ...... I don't want much, but ..... :p

Apple Watch as TV remote control?

The TV remote control has been way too long. Now you can use your Apple Watch. It's shorter.

(Well, it's a guess.)

I know how it is going to be...

Hopefully Craig is there this time. Phil and Tim are great and all, but Craig just brings something different to the table.:apple:

The tagline obviously refers to the fact that we've been using keyboards and mice as input devices for way too long.

You will be able to control the new Macs with your mind.

They streamed at least the last 4 events so not a big suprise.

I would upgrade my :apple:TV2 if it's worth it :D

Why can't they stream it on YouTube everyone else? Give up on QuickTime; it's dead.
You are conflating the video encapsulation with the stream quality/reliability - utterly unrelated. And PS, judging by the Chinese translation getting on the stream, the problem was way before it could get to the distribution point: in other words they could have used YouTube and achieved the same result last time.

Also, I seriously doubt YouTube has ever had an audience approaching that size for a live stream. Please provide examples if you know otherwise.

Surely, there will be a TB display update? It seems strange that you can buy a Mac Pro, yet there is no in-house screen that makes use of its 4K prowess.

Yea, I was sad when my company ordered some Dell 4k displays the other day to replace their Apple displays for some creative work. If Apple announces new displays, hopefully they will regret that decision.

That graphic is very remenicent of the classic Apple logo. Perhaps the tag line indicates either the resurrection of a classic product line or otherwise some idea they toyed with long ago?

LOL, no, they are not introducing anything new at this event. Updates only.

Apple finally "cracked it"!

Two Questions…

First Question, what is the longest running, rumored Apple device that would appeal to the mass market?

Second Question, can you think of any other companies that have a six color logo?

How about this? Looks kind of similar to me…

I am probably being naive, but I am betting that Apple finally "cracked it”. After all, it will have only been three years and 11 days.

Remember Steve’s biography:

"I'd like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use. It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud. It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it.”

"I think it refers to the 50 years the plastic credit card with a magnetic stripe has been in use, now to be replaced by Apple Pay, which will open the door to socio-economic changes in how people pay for items in retail environments."

Run an intellect is in the house

Did you sign up yesterday specifically to make this your first and only comment? I guess I should be flattered...
