Actually FedEx won't be affected, they're far busier over the holidays. iPhones are small, light, and the number of units while high for Apple, will only be a small bump compared to others high volume shipments. That's why Apple uses FedEx, this will be easy for them.

It probably depends where you live. I live in an affluent area and I talked to my fed ex driver during the 5 or 5S launch (can't remember) and he said they had a ridiculous amount of iPhone deliveries that day.

Anyone know if there will be a separate preorder line if you have it deliver to store? Or will you have to wait with everyone else?

Some carriers won't leave the package at your door if no one is home.

Ship it to your work. Should be doing this with all packages really. You pay less from most retailers when you ship to a business vs a home and businesses get their deliveries earlier in the day than home deliveries.

Anyone know, based on history, if the phone will go to your home same day as release? Or will it take a week or so?

Anyone know if "reserving iPhone for pick up" requires entry and payment using a CC, or just name and Apple ID?

Or is it more like here's a #, thank you, come on in Friday morning and pick one up!

This isn't "reserving." This is personal pickup. Once you complete the purchase online the phone is yours. When you pick it up it'll have a white sticker placed on the plastic wrap with your name, phone number, and order number. Bring CC, ID, and order number to the store whenever is convenient for you.

Guys not that hard to do!! Just decide one or the other...A whole thread devoted to this wow....

Apple will have two different lines for those who pre ordered and waiting. They will ship to your home somedays the day before on Thursday if your lucky and for sure on release day friday. Don't stress

I've never been allowed to have an iPhone shipped to any address other than my phone's billing address. I've bought every iPhone so far, and both through Apple and AT&T.

Not sure if this has been suggested, but I think you can ask fedex to hold the package at their facility for pick up. Might be easier and better than waiting in a crazy line at the apple store or waiting for the delivery to show up at your home/office.

Awesome. We're checking out the 21st and have to drive all the way back to Houston, stopping to visit and pick up our dog from family friends in New Orleans. I won't be in Houston until possibly the 23rd.

Well then you will pass through Baton Rouge, where there is an apple store off the bluebonnet exit 2nd BR exit as you come into town from New Orleans.

its like a couple hundred yards from the exit in the Mall of Louisiana.

Picking up a newly released iPhone on release day is your worst nightmare. Don't do it. Not even a few days after.

Each year I've received mine FedEx at 9:15am +/- a few minutes, on release day.

Then driving to the office I just happen to pass the Apple store and laugh at the huge line of people. It's the very best service.

The only exception is the year I ordered from Apple, I'll never make that mistake again, I didn't get the phone for two weeks.

AT&T has been a great company to do business with for twelve years.

Am I Guaranteed a Phone?

If I preorder through Apple at 12:01AM Pacific Time, will I be guaranteed a phone in the store to pick up or to be delivered? I don't want to order a phone and then find out I have to wait until the 26th to get it. Does the preorder site tell me when my phone will be there?

I've shipped them everywhere. Both from Apple and from AT&T. Just had it shipped to my work address on one of my iPhone 6 Plus orders too.
