Er..... it's a four-leaf-clover...... for St. Patrick's Day......

The Slax symbol is different.

Lol i just looked and the only different is its facing the other direction.

Is today st pattys day?

Wait a minute. I'm a developer too - does that mean I'll get 3.0 before the masses, as well?? All developers?

No, MacFly has it wrong. Only select developers get beta builds of the OS. From previous experience, only developers accepting into the program before July 11, 2008 get seeded beta OS builds. I'm assuming 3.0 will be no different.

a lot of people are saying that they need to compete with the Palm Pre's OS and such. Lets keep in mind that palm was announced just 2 months ago. If Apple was going to start copying the pre, it would be impossible to write this software within 2 months.

With that sad, the iPhone OS has been ABOUT the same since its launch in 2007. There has been tons of new features added every other month or so, but interms of a large re do, its been awhile.

Apple has been working on this for a long time, i have a feeling its going to be incredible.

- Longer-lasting battery
- Faster processors
- Increased memory
- A dedicated chip for flash support in Safari
- Adding a flash for the camera
- Adding a camera to the front of the device for video-chat
- Improved form-factor (thinner?)
- Better-sounding speaker(s)

Good thing you're not Apple's CEO or Head of Product Development. :)

I meant at face value, not a whole lot will change with what you see on the phone other than the screen, and the camera. It's still gonna be a slab with a screen and a camera. It might be a thinner slab, it will obviously have newer faster components inside, but unless apple changes their idea about buttons and physical keyboards I doubt it will change a whole lot from what you see the iphone as today.
A change in case color/material might be a revolutionary bound for some apple fanatics, but to most people it will just be a new version of yesterday's iphone.

I really hope that the 3.0 includes an email preview feature and upcoming events on the first screen you get when you wake it up (the slide to unlock screen).

It sucks when you get tons of email notifications and you want to quickly see what it was or who it's from instead of having to go into the mail app all the time.

This should be pretty exciting! I can't wait to see the new iPhone!

Go anywhere, and many people are STILL hyped on the Pre.

Well, somehow I've managed to miss all these people hyped about the Pre. Guess I don't get out enough.

One of the things you have to keep in mind when it comes to hype about tech products is that there are two spheres to consider: consumer and geek. I've seen so many products stir a massive amount of interest in the geek sphere (yes, I'm looking at you Android G1) and not even make the slightest blip on the consumer radar (still looking at you Android G1.) That explains why the G1 had massive initial sales and then fell off rapidly. News is just breaking in the last few days that sellers of the G1 have slashed prices by up to half. It's not looking good. The geeks lined up to get their G1 and nobody else is interested. We saw the same thing with the Zune--lotta geek hype, nobody in the consumer sphere really cared.

For a product to succeed it has to have a lot of hype in the consumer sphere. When people who don't live in front of their computer 24/7 know about a product and have some interest in it, then it's going to sell. From what I've seen, there is next to no consumer hype for the Pre. A little bit of geek hype on the Web, but not much else.

Just a preview on the 17th. To be honest I wish Apple would wait until the actual release of the firmware to reveal all of the secrets of what's to come. This is unlike Apple.

Yeah! It's pretty stressing giving us a preview 3 months before release but hey, at least we know its coming:p

I am glad that Apple is giving us a preview but it will be disappointing if the new software has some hit actions:
MMS
Cut & Paste
Backround Apps
iLife Mobile
And More!
I am glad to hear that there will be a new iPhone now I have to get all ready and save my money!

Please fix the text messaging app so it doesn't take 10 frikkin seconds to load.
Also, fix it so that I can actually reply to people without the send failing, instead of having to go back and create a new message manually, putting in the exact same #, just to respond to someone (well known bug).

I can think of a billion other improvements, but those are the most annoying quirks for me.

I dated Jamie Solden.....she was a bi**h !!!!

Yeah well I married her and she left me on our honeymoon for the bartender on the cruise ship. Heard she's some where in Jamaica following his rasta band around the island with 4 kids in tow. God I can't stand that woman.

How much are they actually going to say?

SirROM, you probably got the most exciting prediction/wish/suggestion out of all the comments here! iWork for iPhone, now that´s something I´d like to see:)

But that would demand better hardware, right? And even if iWork isn´t what
it´s all leading up to, it has to be something major. Ok, what everyone is demanding here (MMS, copy/paste etc) are vital features, but they don´t really call for a ver3, do they, could easily be a ver2.2.2 or something (liked the idea though that this might as well be released next Friday for all we know).

But if the presentation on Tuesday is of some major change/adding that would need (or at least function well) with better hardware, how will Apple be able to present this without spilling that they are soon ready to release the next gen iPhone?

Ok, we all "know" they will ship it in June. (at least it seems that many in the forum knows this) But when giving specs on the SDK, won´t developers be able to nail what hardware the software is leading up to? I´m not a developer, I´m asking this... Wouldn´t they actually give out a lot just by showing some software/features?

So, are they actually going to reveal the next gen iPhone on Tuesday? ...something extra...?

...anyway, some are asking what the next iPhone will be called. My suggestion would be iPhonePhoto, because of the groundbreaking camera lens never seen in a cell phone before:) ...hoping, hoping...

...hm, if they´re asking developers to get ready for programming for other resolutions, I can see the excuse being that they will open up for apps being used as widgets on a computer. Or is this already possible?

No way. It'll require a CCD sensor and it's too thin for that. It'd need 3x optical zoom and it's too thin for that. This is not a camera phone, matey. It's need to be 5MP or more to even begin to compete.

Apple has been working on this for a long time, i have a feeling its going to be incredible.

Copy and paste???

Havent seen a whole lot on here or any of the tech blogs I see, other than it appearing on fallon. I guess that makes me a fanboy:rolleyes:

 I didn't mean to imply that. Sorry if you thought I was.

Just go to Gizmodo for example:

http://i.gizmodo.com/5169081/unicorn-wishes-if-only-iphone-os-30-had-these-very-cool-things

Note the constant: "like the Pre."

Now, I'm NOT claiming that the Pre is going to be an iPhone killer. Heck, no one has actually USED it (outside of the peeps at Palm). I'm only commenting on the so-called "lack of hype." It is definitely there. Perhaps "only" amongst geeks and techies, but there's a clear interest in the device.

can't wait to see what 3.0 might bring, hopefully they will come out with some new features that will surprise us all

I was working in 2002 on a cruise as bartender when i meet Jamie Solden. The same night we had some sexz against the wine cellar. Afte that she told me that had some music biz in jamaica. Never see her again.
A month later a rasta man enter the ship as worker and told me that she had escaped from the island to Cuba under the Fidel Castri's pants during a reconciliacion visit.

That would explain the differences between my two accounts. I have one from pre July 11 2008, and one from earlier this year. The early 08 account has access to the official beta OS forum, while my 09 account does not.

I guess I'll keep the 08 account around just in case :)
