I'm sorry, but I need to ask this because I see it so often and do not understand it. Why do you place such an emphasis on the camera.

I'm not faulting you for it. There are many people who do this. I'm just trying to understand.

I admit that the camera is a very useful device to have on a smartphone. But I don't understand the emphasis on the quality that many people place on it.

It seems to me that smartphone camera quality achieved "good enough" status several years ago.
I have a DSLR, but there are a lot of places it's impractical or burdensome to take. A camera in your phone mitigates those concerns. Some people enjoy taking quality photos. Some people want the best camera possible in the device they carry with them every day, all the time. Everyone has different needs, hobbies, desires and that's not a really difficult concept to understand.

Edit: Grammatical error.

The real question is whether they will call the single 5.5-inch model "Pro" and slap a $100 premium on it (thereby making it a whopping $200 more than the 4.7 inch model). Given their recent behavior with the iPad line, my guess is yes. It makes sense in a way. Since fewer people are buying smartphones these days, the only way to keep revenues up is to get more money out of the people who are still buying. A $200 premium will be hard for a lot of people to swallow though. This could be a real test of whether their "Pro" pricing strategy really works.
Apple knows what they're doing and no matter what they decide to do, it won't be financial ruin for them. That being said, trying to sell a new iPhone in a two year old body AND charge even more for it sounds insanely dumb. These forums are filled with people that were planning on purchasing an iPhone 7 and are now considering a Galaxy S7 or waiting for the 2017 iPhone. Upping the price would be even more reason for people not to buy it.

I love these Ming-Chi Kuo posts.... If you report on every eventuality over a period of time, you are bound to get it right at some point. It'll have a dual camera, it won't have a dual camera.... it'll have a smart connector, it won't have a smart connector....

Every time one of these comes up I have a vision of a dog chasing it's tail.

I want to hear what that octopus that could predict the football scores has to say about it all.....

I use my phone as my primary camera. I have a DSLR but it is so impractical to carry with me. The iPhone takes pretty good pictures and definitely good enough to take pictures of your food for Instagram or whatever, but I take photos of my wife and I on vacation. These are our memories captured for life. Some will be framed.

Yep, I agree with Howyalikdemapls. I used to try to carry a DSLR around with me every so often, then went to a high quality point and shoot for daily life, and now I rely on my iPhone 99% of the time - for the simple fact that it is always with me. If you don't have a camera with you, you won't get a picture.

I occasionally get some good or spontaneous shot that gets published, so the higher the quality, the happier I am. Dual-lens is the next wave of improvement. And I just can't handle the immense size of the Plus iPhone. It fits in my pants the way a DSLR does. ;)

Agreed, the only reason I upgrade every year is for the better camera. I don't want a 5.5" device.

...they really are for the most part. The camera is such a minimal upgrade from the regular to the plus...imo. Maybe this gen will change that.

Personally I think I am going back to a SE if and when my 6S breaks.

..according to a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo...

Their pricing strategy is part of the reason their sales are stagnating. Most people find it difficult to justify dishing out $1000 or more every year or two when their current device does a good enough job. They're more likely to wait until something remarkable comes out, or until they absolutely need an upgrade. That's what's happened to the iPad and now it's happening to the iPhone.

What the he** is wrong with these Executives at Apple?

They must be thinking. Lets get even more models.. That will sell.

iPhone SE, iPhone SEs, iPhone SE Pro, iPhone 7, iPhone 7+, iPhone 7 Pro..and the iPhone 6s & 6s+

All with different features..

No wonder people are gering tired of getting robbed by Apple. Give us 3 versions of the models with same features but different screen size.

Not disagreeing with you, but if Apple does this they should name it the iPhone 7 Hari-kari b/c surely it will be committing financial suicide. I was stunned when they did it with the iPad 9.7. My mind will be blown to bits if they do it w/ the iPhone as it won't increase net revenue because substantially fewer people will upgrade to it. They'll either stick w/ what they have or be so turned off by the price increase, switch back to Android. Another price hike here gives Samsung a huge opening. My guess, if it happens, Samsung will run with it and do an obnoxious end zone dance too.

iPhone is back this fall with wounds marks top and bottom, plus protrusions and warts aplenty!
Not even bothering to get the design clean anymore.
Oh dear me, Apple... What's broken at HQ?
"This is really sad. It really is."-- Phil Schiller. (Keynote 46 minutes 21 seconds
http://ow.ly/uGLq3006Ycm)

That was one of the strangest comments I've seen Schiller make.

I mean, let's be honest...if the stat was that there were 600 million Macs in use today that were over 5 years old, he probably would've been thinking, "This is really sad...we need to make Macs that don't have such great longevity so as to increase our YoY revenue"; but he would've said, "We make the best computers in the industry. They outlast every other computer on the market. There are 600 million Macs still in use that are 5+ years old."

iPhone is expensive. I pay for the best, I want the best. Any camera improvement is welcome.

Try looking at pictures your parents took from when they were children. I want the best quality pictures to last a lifetime.

Really?Additional $100 for just a screensize increase?

Sure. That trend follows with every other product Apple makes that has multiple screen size options. If you order a custom iMac or the MacBook Pro/MacBook Air so that the internals are relatively similar and the only difference is the screen size, you'll be paying at least $100.00 more for the larger screen version (and in most cases, much more than $100.00 extra).

3 GB of Ram? Surely Apple won't breach beyond 2GB. How about scrapping 16GB iPhones and come to the realization we need 32 GB as a base model. 16 GB is antiquated.

Well if Apple can move more people to the plus version then their precious ASP will remain over $ 650+ and they will be able to make 32GB standard - otherwise, they will continue milking users with 16GB

Exactly. It was completely disconnected and out of touch. Still rocking an iMac 2008 (with an intermittent buzzing screen that started years earlier #AppleProductQualityInReality).

It is odd how they credit Jobs with things like HealthKit that aren't developing all that fast, but then ignore his philosophy that brought Apple back from the dead by basically limiting models to prevent consumer confusion and purchase hesitancy.

You could make the same comparison between the MB and Air and even to some extent the 13" MBP.

You didn't read the article then? New flagship phones are coming, probably called 7, there'll be a 7 and a 7+, just like every other release.

3GB RAM, about time! I really hope they don't charge a "Pro" price for it. Also, I wish that they would've included this in the regular 7. It's kinda messed up that you have to buy the bigger phone to get the better specs.
