I still don't feel pumped for some reason. Maybe i have gotten older and more focused on things that are essential to my daily living. Apple at the end of the day is a business and its all about selling lots of stuff to make profit and keep shareholders happy. One magic ingredient I think is missing in the development of the AR headset is whether this is a product the developers and visionaries behind it would want themselves. I hate to inject Steve Jobs into this, but one of his philosophies was, we make things we like but just happen to make enough sell them too. The iPod is such a quintessential reminder of that. Music is universal and something you would bring with you everywhere and now that you could have a thousand songs in your pocket made you want it. It was social, because people would approach you and ask what you are listening to. In someways, you could even share it. But I just don't feel that translates well to a AR headset.
My thoughts always fall back to that guy in white bobby socks, adidas flip-flops, white XXL t-shirt with oculus on and his hands flailing all over the beach. It looks very anti-social. Is this a device bringing us together or pulling us apart.
