I wish they had bought Time Warner, simply because I am being ripped off by them for my Internet connection ($120 a month - for *just* that, no TV) and have NO other option in our Manhattan apartment building: Verizon FIOS is coming just about never. Verizon totally lied to NYC that they would wire the entire city within 5 years -- they've not done it, and seem to have basically stopped working at it: for those in newly built buildings that have it, great, but the rest of us are screwed.

Anyway, if I was dealing with Apple instead TWC every time something goes wrong and being charged a reasonable high speed Internet fee (not cheap by any means, but not an utter monopoly based gouge), I'd be so much happier. Real TV through Apple TV would just be a bonus.

Americans seem to get a raw deal when it comes to TV and Internet. I cancelled my fixed line broadband connection about year ago and now use a 4G WiFi Device. It's very fast and reliable. I can download iTunes content quickly, stream live TV, etc. Cable is the past, wireless is the future.

A: sell is content at a reasonable price for our skinny program.

TW: I'll never allow it!

A: Is your employer for sale?

TW: Gulp! Let's talk skinny content!

And my friend Eddie is going to run with this? How about fixing what you already broke?

Amen.

iTunes has become a bloated Swiss Army tool. The Beats headphones were a waste of 2 billion dollars. The iBooks Store is unimpressive. Newsstand is a fail.

Cue needs to stop dancing and hobnobbing and do some quality audits. Frankly, he should be replaced.

If you think Americans get a raw deal in wired access, dig a little deeper into the wonder of American wireless broadband plans. For many Americans, your approach would result in either:
  • fees that would make the "antiquated", "greed-filled", wired offerings seem like bargain, OR
  • great service through the use of about 2-4GB, then throttled use thereafter until next month.
Unless someone could watch relatively little video, your "solution" would be far worse on the American wallet for almost everyone here.

Customer: Great! Skinny content. I want a package with A, B, C, P, Q, W, J, K and definitely no R. R sucks.

A/TW: Uh... yeah, about that. Our skinny content only consists of A, R, S, E, and Fox.

Skinny packages are simply cable packages with less choice.

I see what you did there.

By now, you should have heard that Charter Communications acquired Time Warner Cable and will be rebranding the combined services as ‘Spectrum’. I am a TWC customer and received notice that I need to replace my modem. Why? Because Charter is increasing my broadband speeds from 30Mbps/5Mbps to 200Mbps/20Mbps for no additional cost! They’re able to do this with the existing network, proving that TWC intentionally withheld better service.

As for Verizon FiOS, it no longer exists as a business, only in name. Existing service is maintained by a third party but Verizon won’t be laying any more cable.

These young men at Apple should learn to tuck in their shirts first. It's shameful.

I am a Charter employee and I get discounted services. I live outside of the footprint of Charter and I hate it bc Apple and Charter do not get along so I can't use Apple apps. We're going to see a lot more of that with the TWC and bright house buyout.

You can blame Eddy all you want, but who is the ignorant one who won't force him out of Apple for doing a poor job? Cook was so quick to ax Forstall, yet he keeps Cue on the team.
Of course you are right. But you fail to recognize that Cue is Cuban. Like the ones that set off the watergate scandal, we know how to get the dirt on people. I expect he has lots of dirt going back a long time and that is why he is still where he is (probably had dirt on steve too). :D (says one cuban about another:eek:)

I hope they buy TWC and then push them off a bridge. I'm not sure about elsewhere but they're consistently voted worst/most hated company in NYC.

Does he have to give up his flair too?

Original content from Apple sounds like a disaster quite honestly.

This is a list of acquisitions made by Apple and it's very revealing seeing how they've been fairing up recently, you simply can't buy "cool" Apple.

I'd love a legible version of this. :(

Upon further squinting I see that this is just a wikipedia table.
After a quick google:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mergers_and_acquisitions_by_Apple

Google image reverse searching didn't provide success, I take it you made that graphic yourself. :)
