Really? I used to sweat through regular ear buds in no time. I sweated through two pair of "Guaranteed Sweat Proof" Jaybirds and ended up getting my money back.

But my AirPods are >25 months old and still going strong. I exercise in them almost every day (mostly running). There's so much glue in them that they are all but (unofficially) waterproof.

I experienced that with JayBirds too, which I also loved at the time. Maybe I just sweat too much because there's always one AirPod that sounds lower than the other after time... :(

Piano black is the new Space Gray.

Loving my matte black ones. Not painted by Apple, natch, but the color is fantastic.

Military matte black would be awesome.

Would be great if they release them in other colours like a red or navy blue similar to like Beats.

Apple is planning to release AirPods that feature a new surface coating, wireless charging, and a black color option, according to a report from Taiwanese Economic Daily News.

Apple supplier Inventec has been manufacturing the new AirPods and is ready to ship them in the spring, perhaps alongside the AirPower, which is now in mass production.

Black AirPods from Colorware

Economic Daily Times says that the AirPods will be priced the same as the previous version, which was $159 in the United States, though curiously the site suggests the prior pricing was $199.

The information shared by the Taiwanese publication matches up with rumors that we heard earlier this week from MySmartPrice.

That rumor suggested both the AirPods and the Charging Case will be available in black and white, with the updated accessory to get a special matte coating that will "enhance grip."

We still don't know exactly when the AirPods are going to be released. Apple is holding an event on March 25, but it will focus on services and not hardware.

Apple could choose to release updated AirPods and perhaps the AirPower right around that time via press release rather than through a dedicated event.

I hope they don’t raise the price because of color difference like the Magic Mouse 2 though... you know Apple :)

Question is are these going to be 1.5s or true v2s? I was holding off for the water proofing after my first ones one fell in a puddle to its instant death!

Has hell frozen over? Apple very rarely releases stuff in black, although they have done more recently (like the Mac mini and iMac Pro)
Apple products started in computer beige but their laptops quickly switched to dark grey/black plastic. Later, their computers largely switched to white plastic or silver metal with the main exception being the iMac G3's colourful range. Eventually, the metallic silver gained new darker and tinted shades (space grey, gold, rose gold).

Apple has often released black versions as something somewhat special, for example the black iBook or black versions of the original iPod. Starting with the iPod nano, offering both black and white versions became a common theme for Apple non-computer devices. The iPhone continued this pattern with always coming in a light and a dark version (the dark version being black from the original iPhone up until the iPhone 4).

how about matte black, that'd be nice. white just sticks out like a sore thumb.

You just want black AirPods to be more like a Splinter Cell agent :)

Maybe Apple will revive the black color tax they had with the old MacBook line. $159 for white AirPods and $199 for black ones? Looking at the Jet Black render, it does look stunning

That black color would be my choice over the white color. If the price remains unchanged, that would be a plus too.

Wow talking about putting lipstick on a pig... those things can still only get you 255kbps while the jack can get you lossless 999kbps... but the gullible masses will still spread their wallets and fork out money because the marketers have done a good job. At least less people will be sporting women’s hygene products poking out of their ears

Matte black with enhanced grip would be nicer than just piano black. I like it! I've seen some cool images of matte black/charcoal finishes.
Plus the ear bud part might grip better in people's ears, for those that have an issue with them slipping out (I think a few people had mentioned having a problem??).

Looking forward to getting my first pair of AirPods.
Hopefully the pricing does remain the same. Cheaper would be nicer but I'd settle for the same. :D

Really? I don’t have any problems whatsoever nor does my 8 year old son.
They work fine for my wife and young daughter, but not for me. They fall out if I open my mouth.

If you think about it that makes sense. How could one size work well for a 8 year old girl, a 50 year old lady, a 6’4” man, etc. Everyone’s ears are different. That’s why most high end earphones use, at a minimum, silicone or foam tips that can compress to fit different ears. Most come with or support multiple sizes of tips that are easily swappable. This also has a side benefit of creating a better seal to improve sound quality and isolate from environmental noise.

Their earpods and airpods are useless as far as I'm concerned. The slick service and stupid design make them uncomfortable to wear and they slip out of my ears way too easily. I fail to see their allure at all. But rather than fix the usability issues Apple does what Apple always does. They change the color and pretend they did a really big design change! I want function not form...
