I read somewhere that build 17A5572a was the GM for 13.0 since that's when they forked to 13.1 - It makes sense too since they probably had to submit a GM build to be installed on the iPhone 11 devices that were in manufacturing.

No way build 17A5572a a gm release. It wasn’t ready. 13.1 still has bugs too.

Does iOS 13 support WPA 3? Not buying a WiFi 6 Router until we can also step up to WPA 3

With iOS 13.1 dropping the same day as iPadOS, is the iPadOS going to be 13.1?

That would be my guess — that there won't be an iPadOS 13.0, to keep the version in sync with iOS.

(There's precedent. iOS 3.2 was iPad-only, and 4.0 was iPhone-only.)

I'm still running the 13.0 Public Beta 8, should I go ahead with the 13.1 Betas? Just curious.

It might be a good idea to either test with a separate iCloud account / Apple ID, or to keep backups. Other than that, I haven't seen 13.1 be any worse than 13.0. It still has broken Mail, crashy Springboard and flaky keyboard, but other than that, it's kind of OK.

I'd love to hear why the hell iPad OS is not launching at the same time ...ODD
Because 13.1 is the real iOS 13. The one being released with the new phones on the 19th is a buggy stopgap because new phones always have to ship with a new OS, even if it’s not ready. Hopefully i(Pad)OS 13.1 on the 30th will bring some actual stability.

My iPhone has iOS 13.1 beta now.. Is it going to be a problem to restore the backup to new iPhone 11 Pro since it is iOS 13?

Does WiFi 6 improve range at all?
My understanding is no as range is a function of frequency and power vs objects the signal has to pass through. I think WiFi 6 uses 2.4 and 5ghz for now but additional frequencies are in the spec and could be added later.
What you should get with a WiFi 6 enabled device like the iPhone 11s is increased throughput/bandwidth as the router and device can pass data over multiple channels and to multiple devices at the same time.

This version of WiFi 6 doesn’t seem like much of an upgrade. WiFi AC is already plants fast an can throughout my 500.000kbps connection already.

later versions will include different frequencies. I would hold off with buying a new router.

Apple seems to be running behind on software this year. First the 13.1 feature fork before the official 13 release, then the delay on the new computational photo mode announced today, and now the staggered release for iPad OS. Fine with me - whatever it takes to get it stable
How is starting a .1 beta before the initial release falling behind?

You'll most likely have to upgrade the 11 Pro to the 13.1 beta (if there is even one available), or upgrade to 13.1 when is released on the 30th before you can restore a backup.

I imagine that the iPadOS delay is due to the overwhelming amount of rotation and multitasking issues. I have no real issues on my 8 plus but no end of trouble with my iPad Pro.

Because 13.1 is just the original iOS 13.
According to you. And even if it were, 2 weeks between releases? Big whoop. Also for how well the betas have been going, id say they are doing alright.

Just more doom and gloom.

Perfectly fine with me. I never download iOS new versions on the first day anyways, as Apple servers are absolutely hammered and if there is any potential bricking issues.:D I’d rather have them have it right the first time versus release something that might need some tweaking.

Wild supposition but they may not feel it wise to introduce ios 13 and iPadOS on the same day in case there is a major problem with either one....

So much for getting excited to install the GM on iPad and iPhone tonight. Hopefully the 13.0 GM comes out soon at least.

correct , for home use where you have a single AP and maybe not a lot of clients wifi 6 will be faster but not by much. wifi 6 gets is big changes in how it handles multiple devices.and how it handles high density deployments

most likely not worth it for private use until WiFi 6 becomes the standard for very low end router you get for free from your ISP.

Might be great for public environments thought.

Not sure how an almost-trillion dollar company managed not to have the software ready in time. I would have thought Apple would thrown as many devs at the issues as needed to get things done in time.
Yeah, reality is quite a bit more nuanced than that.

even for home eventually it will become important because of IOT, everything in the home is becoming smart and that means more clients needing to talk . wifi 6 is BIG for IOT since AC wasn't support on 24 where wifi 6 is, mainly for IOT devices really.
