This is bad. iOS 13 is ok but wasn’t it supposed to make Apple launch faster and all that stuff?
To me it feels like iOS 12 or even worse, definitely not faster.
Now they even have to delay release...

What! Why not hold back 13.0 and just release 13.1? There is no point in releasing 13.0 if it already has known issues that are fixed.

this is not surprising to me as I have been using iPadOS 13.1 beta 2 and there are still bugs. Springboard crash, keyboard navigation defects, etc. They bit off a lot with this iPadOS release so the 10ish day delay while uncharacteristic for Apple is understandable. I will gladly take a delay for all the new features coming to iPad. I've been using the Beta since day 1 and it is a huge leap towards productivity parity with MacBook. Mouse support, full Safari browser, file downloads, USB storage, today screen pinned widgets really make a big difference.

The audio engineer messed up a little with the timing of the applause/clap track.
And I lost count of how may times I heard "excited, & exciting" words.
Not much for me here today, except for the always on watch display... I took only a sip of the Koolaid 😉
For the people that (want to) do better camera work; "rock on"
Cheers

September 30th for ipados! What the hell!
I told you guys that iOS/iPadOS was especially buggy this year and I was worried about things being delayed. People told me to just wait until launch. Well, launch is here and it's delayed a bit. They probably put all the effort into making sure iOS, their golden child on the iPhone was running better and then will patch up iPadOS which surely shares at least 90% of the same code. Even so, last year iOS 12 was released the Monday after the keynote, and this one is the Thursday after, so even iOS is a little bit delayed.

iOS 13 will be a disaster. iOS 11 all over again. Mark my words.

Agree.. And iOS 9: the first disaster where Apple started its descent into idiocy. Apple has an even/odd problem. Make a mess, then spend a year cleaning it up.

I stayed on iOS 10 until a month ago when I updated to 12.4.. and 12.4.1 yesterday. Hang out on that until the dust settles.

13.0 <-> 13.1 out of step is a sure sign of software development fail. Sigh...

hmmm GM used to be released earlier than the official public release date.

I read somewhere that build 17A5572a was the GM for 13.0 since that's when they forked to 13.1 - It makes sense too since they probably had to submit a GM build to be installed on the iPhone 11 devices that were in manufacturing.

I'm sure that we'll see a GM soon, otherwise the new phone will ship with the beta code - there just isn't enough time to image that many phones that fast. I suspect the delay in iPadOS is to manage the bandwidth requirements for upgrades. As for iOS 13.1, it probably needs more time baking and they don't have the window to image all the new phones with it.

My concern is that ios13 isn’t ready and they are putting it out rushed just a day before the phones because they have to. Ipados being delayed seems to confirm it as it is basically ios13 anyway.

Well, one pundit has theorized (and he's pretty convincing) that 13.0 was frozen to have something to load onto the new phones, so they can ship out ahead of the tariffs. Then 13.1 will be sitting there, available on delivery.

Yes, putting 13.0 on the massive amount of new devices being produced makes sense. (The only alternative they had was to make a special build of 12.x to put on there.)

But putting bothering to release 13.0 on older iPhones is surprising.

With iOS 13.1 dropping the same day as iPadOS, is the iPadOS going to be 13.1? I'm still running the 13.0 Public Beta 8, should I go ahead with the 13.1 Betas? Just curious.

As soon as all four OS's are released, I'm waiting no sooner than 2 weeks for each device. Just to make sure Apple isn't beta testing on all of us still. From what I read the public betas are still leaving a lot be desired.
