Apple to Release iPhone 4S with New GPS Features?

My prediction is they will do like they did with the 3GS. Certain features will be restricted to the 4S and will not work on the 4 even with the iOS5 upgrade. The assistant is likely one of them. Not for technical reasons, but for marketing reasons.

not the OP but,

this isn't a tantrum. it is capitalism. consumers have choices. i'm very excited that i get to choose between this new iphone and the s II and the nexus prime. what great options to have. while the facts are still out, if it's just a spec bump and this overhyped assistant (cool yes but a bit of a yawn) then I'm definitely leaning toward the nexus prime. very excited simply because of the awesome choices we have.

What I don't understand is why it's speculated that the assistance feature won't run on a regular iPhone 4? That will be the disappointment for me if true.

The 4 month delay is because of iOS5/iCloud.

These features is much more important then a redesigned case. Hardware wise the Iphone4s has been ready.

I hope for a teardrop iPhone release, but the lack of leaked parts is evidence that does not exist.

There is not delay, since Apple never announce iPhone 4S/5 before, and there isn't any timeframe, Apple just make available a products when they wants and think it is ready.
 
Could someone please enlighten me, would it ne best for me just to get the iPhone 4? Don't play games so don't see how the A5 processor will help me. Honest opinions plz
 
They better not act like this voice assist crap is the reason everyone should upgrade to a 4S. Assist has been on Android for a while and guess what, nobody uses it. What a huge let down its going to be that after 15 months they upgrade the camera and proc. The iphone isnt slow on its current hardware so touting the A5 has a huge step is stupid.

once the jailbreak community gets it, it'll be available on the 4. you'll see.

If you read the interview on 9to5mac it requires very powerful cpu and more ram.

iPhone 4 is still one of the best smarthphone on the market and in Apple world thanks to impressive integration is the best friend of your Mac. It is also the best selling ones. So an iPhone4 revision is going to sell like free pancakes.

Indeed, it's still selling like hot cakes - drop the price by 50% and you will have major sales, people that normally would not buy an iphone will suddenly be interested and this opens it all up.

The redesign would be nice but it's really not that important. It's fine as it is and much nicer than the samsung in my humble.

How about iMacs and Macbook Pro's etc???
They are getting hardware bumped all the time... What's the big deal?

Does iOS5 looks amazingly different than iOS4?
Is Lion a big change in OS X ?

I don't see why Apple has to change the looks of their products every upgrade. Except for the people who buy something because they wanna show they have 'the new stuff'.

I think Apple warned (during last earnings call) about something impacting (this quarters) earnings...
at that time they probably knew that the iPhone 5 may be released in early 2012, with the 4S targeted late 2011.

I bet that < 1% of the members here that say "... I'm getting an Android phone if this is true!" will actually get an Android phone.

I bet > 99% will keep their iPhone or buy the new one.

I bet Apple will sell millions and millions of new phones.

Remember that Assistant is like no other voice recognition application you've seen before. It's very possible that it LEGITIMATELY requires a whole core to itself, hence the need for an A5 dual core chip.

Yes.
Tech nerds who look at spec sheets wants a 5.

Just like same people prefer 1.2ghz Tegra2 before 1ghz A5. They don't care that the A5 is 5 times faster in graphics. The .2 + is much better for geeks.

Apple should pull a Microsoft and release iPhone 7.
