The back glass will have a passive matrix embedded-display allowing for custom wallpaper/design that doesn't need power to refresh. Skins will be a thing of the past.

how i wish that was an actual phone, and that thin at all over, not just the top bit.

Amoled doesn't really interest me as much because i don't use my phone that much to notice. Same with OLED...

It may good better, but won't see a difference, since i already get a weeks worth of battery anyway... That's enough.

Generally I get very slightly excited when the oft-reliable analyst drops a hint, but guessing what Apple will do in 2017 seems... premature. Ive might decide the 2017 model must be made of organic, unrefined coconut oil hardened during a super-secret process by Tibetan monks.

I did love the look of the iPhone 4...but it was mostly covered up by a protective case 99.9% of the time. All my iPhones were / still is. I'm happy with the 6 Plus (Although I did have to get a new battery a few days ago...the original was starting to 'balloon' and bulge) - I already made the decision, I'll probably keep this phone until 2017. Unless the 7, 7 Plus is an incredibly mind-blowing, must have device...so far from everything I seen that might not be the case. I can wait for the 7S.

Glass looks better than aluminium but breaks easily, isn't there another material that feels like glass but is more shatterproof? Isn't ceramic more durable?

My guess is some custom material that Apple will tout to differentiate from competitors.

It needs to be durable but not exceptional. Given almost everyone has a case, it's not critical.

Lets design a phone that is the most fragile design we've ever made, so that it shatters if you drop it at any angle from any height. But you say, its worth it because its beautiful. Then you put it in a protective case that completely covers the beauty because its fragile and you don't want to break your $1000 beautiful phone.

I'll speak solely for myself and say I want a phone that I can experience the beauty AND use it without a case and not worry about it shattering if I happen to drop it. The the R&D budget that they have, I'm shocked that they can't come up with a way to do this. Amazon has commercials of someone dropping their tablet and it bouncing down the stairs without breaking, so it has to be possible to come up with something that accomplishes this.

Admin should do a poll asking users whether they would like Apple to use glass or aluminium in next iPhone design.

Yes please. The iPhone is getting stale. Lobed the glass case design of the 4/4S.

Even before the rumors, anticipating a new iPhone is no longer a topic like it once was. The word is out, Apple's stopped innovating and people are OK with that. It's no big deal.

Smartphones are a regular part of everyday life and no longer something special. Apple will always be full of themselves and that's OK too, we get that. Life goes on and smartphones are simply one of the tools we use. Ignoring the Apple iPhone Upgrade Train saves significant time and money .

Just use your phone as you would your car until you're ready to replace it. Simple.

Can you be my therapist :p

No the next iphone will be made out of transparent aluminum and they are going to save the whales while they are at it. The liquidmetal iphone will be the iphone T1000 and it will not only kill you but also assimilate you into the Siri Collective.
been watching too many movies, need to get off that couch.

my guess is you can't exactly have wireless charging if the back is made from metal.

Not necessarily. I think the choice to go back to glass, if correct, has more to do with a new look. It's more likely the smart connector will be used to facilitate wireless ready cases.

The more and more 2017 rumors I hear, the less and less excited I get about the iPhone 7.

I am very excited though to see what Apple does in 2017, hopefully they get their screens to par with competitors'.

Please don't let this be true. I can't stand the way my Galaxy S7 Edge picks up smudges and finger prints on the back.

This would make perfect sense. It's looking like the iPhone 7 won't be anything special by Apple's standards but it'll still be a great phone.

Whether it be the iPhone 7s or iPhone 8 Apple will be marking the 10th anniversary of the iPhone with a bang.

Of course, it's up to you or not to believe this guy but he is the worlds biggest Apple analyst.

I would say this report is pretty much on point, this guy has been reliable a lot in the past. I'm still going to upgrade to the iPhone 7, the dual camera alone would be worth it.

.... I'm happy with the 6 Plus (Although I did have to get a new battery a few days ago...the original was starting to 'balloon' and bulge) -

You're overcharging the battery by using it while plugged in at 100% for long periods of time. This causes the battery to swell and press against the screen.

On your new battery, keep the charge between 40 to 80% while plugged in (yes, unplugging it at 80%) and run a charge cycle once a month from 20% to 100%. The battery will last much longer and won't swell.

Kuo is not OFTEN ACCURATE, I'm tired of this crappy trope.

Kuo issues a new rumor every single day; so having a few turn up true is almost a god damn sure thing hey.

Check out confirmation bias whole slew of echo chamber rumor sites; Kuo makes money of you being naive and desperate.

The very fact Kuo issues all sort of, Apple does this for this motivation, makes me think this person is taking the piss out of everyone all the way to the bank.

Good. It's time for people to face the facts: The best OLED screens are way better than the best LCD screens on every single metric.

No iPhone ever had a screen as good as, say, a Galaxy S5, not to mention newer devices. And no, I'm not a moron talking about useless high resolutions. I'm talking about any single relevant metric to determine a display's quality. OLED all the way, Apple. OLED on watches is already covered, but we need (even more) OLED on all monitors.

It's just a superior technology to use on every possible implementation. Just make sure a decent matrix is used, not pentile.

I applaud Apple for staying out of useless and pathetic resolution and pixel races, but not having OLED on all of their flagship devices are downright shameful.

Those that are disagreeing... Well, they are the exact same people defending 16GB of memory, HDD on Macs, that were also the same defending not having bigger screens and that 1GB of RAM was enough. So, we know how valuable their opinions can be.

A 300 to 400 PPI OLED iPhone with smaller bezels. Make it happen.
