Apple is planning to reset all iCloud backup data on September 22nd, 2011. As noted by 9to5Mac, the announcement was posted to Apple's developer site for both iOS and Mac developers:
Apple's iOS 5 has been undergoing developer testing since its announcement back in June. Developers have been able to test iCloud for backups and storage during the developer betas.

Apple has provided 7 betas to developers thus far, and had been previously rumored to be offering the Golden Master (final version before release) on September 23rd. That same rumor had also incorrectly pinpointed a Beta 8 release a few days ago, but the 23rd date seems to line up nicely with this iCloud backup reset.

Apple had said that iOS 5 would launch "this fall" which technically begins on September 23rd.

When does this line up with any Apple keynote event?

I can just imagine the Keynote invites being drafted right now and the massive banners being printed right now

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

This also lines up nicely with my desire to finally get my hands on iOS 5.

If the iPad 2 timeline is any indicator, expect invites this wednesday (9/21), the special event on 9/28 and iPhone 5/4S/whatever on 10/7.

Obviously, iCloud will launch when the iPhone 5 (or 4S or both) are launched. iOS5 will likely go live the same day (or shortly after) to everyone else.

But when? I'm tried of waiting!

It could also be 9/20 for the invite. As its a Tuesday and Apple has previously sent out keynote invites on a Tuesday.

I wonder who prints Apple's promotional material. Do they handle that in-house?

I can't see Apple sending their banner orders to VistaPrint! :D

I assume they make it their own. I mean, a company this big doesn't have printing resources? :D

GM usually comes out the same day as the keynote. So I'm a bit confused.

Oh man, this is so exciting. The day is approaching, and I'm beginning to feel the excitement which i had before the iPhone 3G was announced. I've never been so excited for fall in my life.

So when can we expect the invites to go out?

"GM usually comes out the same day as the keynote. So I'm a bit confused."

Usually, but this year is obviously a bit different for Apple in terms of release cycles.

I'd be suprised, but all I can say is that this will probably end being an interesting week.

I'm just excited for iOS 5. I had the 2G iPod touch when it was announced so my hopes of getting it then were done.

I can't talk about my own experiences due to the NDA, but I heard on the grapevine that Safari's still crashing quite a lot in build 9A5313e, so I'm worried if they really do think they're that close to GM.

I hope the invites go out tomorrow with and event on Friday. That would be cool.
